2023 Quarterbacks on the Rise
In this article:
With continued additions to the class of 2023 going to be taking place over the next few weeks. Today is a good of time as any to examine some of the quarterbacks that are going to be familiar names over the course of the next year. The state of Arkansas has started to produce some quality quarterbacks and taking an early look at some quarterbacks that are going to be lighting up Friday nights is a smart move.
Carter Hensley Carter Hensley 6'4" | 190 lbs | QB Rogers Heritage | 2023 State AR -Rogers Heritage
Hensley gives the War Eagles of Rogers Heritage a quarterback with an extremely strong arm. He moves around in the pocket well and does a good job of extending the play. Hensley does a good job of keeping his eyes down the field. If one of the War Eagles wide receivers can get open, Hensley can make the throw to get him open. The War Eagles are in a difficult conference, however having a quarterback that will be a steady signal caller at the position will help Rogers Heritage immensely. Improvement is the name of the game and Hensley gives the War Eagles an excellent shot of challenging for a playoff spot in the future.
David Sorg David Sorg 6'5" | 215 lbs | QB Fort Smith Southside | 2023 State AR -Fort Smith Southside
One player that has a strong arm in the River Valley is Fort Smith Southside’s David Sorg David Sorg 6'5" | 215 lbs | QB Fort Smith Southside | 2023 State AR . Sorg does an impressive job of looking over the defense and identifying the wide receiver he is going to throw to. He moves around in the pocket well and does not have a problem of moving out of the pocket to make the throw. Sorg has shown a willingness to scramble out of the pocket and pick up extra yardage to extend drives. At 6-5 and 205-pounds the Mavericks quarterback is a load to bring down. Southside has the potential to improve this season Sorg will be an interesting quarterback to watch develop. Fans and scouts should expect big things from the Southside quarterback this season.
Weston Pierce Weston Pierce 6'3" | 180 lbs | QB Maumelle | 2023 State AR -Maumelle
The Hornets’ signal caller is an extremely accurate passer. Pierce has shown that he is amazingly comfortable in the pocket and does a terrific job of scanning the field. He can throw the deep ball and the shorter throws with equal effectiveness. Pierce does an impressive job of being able to throw his wide receivers open. He does not put his receivers in a situation where they will take unnecessary punishment. Pierce has tremendous potential, and I would not be shocked to see him playing division one football in the future. The Maumelle Hornets have a talented team and should make plenty of noise once the season starts.
Jaidan Strange Jaidan Strange 6'2" | 170 lbs | ATH Stuttgart | 2023 State AR -Stuttgart
One team that has talent all over the field is Stuttgart. The Ricebirds have playmakers all over the offensive side of the ball and one of those playmakers is Jaidan Strange Jaidan Strange 6'2" | 170 lbs | ATH Stuttgart | 2023 State AR . Strange has played the wide receiver and the quarterback positions for the Ricebirds. However, for the purpose of this article, we are going to be looking at Strange, primarily as a quarterback. Strange is a nightmare to bring down when he escapes the pocket and uses his legs to pick up yards. He has a strong arm, and he is looking to make the throw until the pocket breaks down and he must escape. Strange is going to draw attention from scouts, both as a quarterback and as a wide receiver. The talent is there, and his recruitment will be interesting to watch.
Damarius Martin Damarius Martin 6'1" | 190 lbs | QB Morrilton | 2023 AR -Morrilton
Over the years, Morrilton has produced its fair share of quarterbacks. Damarius Martin Damarius Martin 6'1" | 190 lbs | QB Morrilton | 2023 AR is another quarterback that follows in that impressive tradition. Martin does an excellent job of extending the play. He keeps his eyes down the field and is always looking to make the pass to an open wide receiver. Martin’s arm strength is and impressive trait, but I am the most impressed with his accuracy when he is throwing on the run. Martin is not afraid to use his legs to pick up extra yards and extend the drive. Morrilton has another good one with Martin and it will be interesting to see what the Devil Dogs accomplish over the next few seasons with Martin as the signal caller.
