The top players in this region could be due for stunning seasons in 2021.
Jaxon Langley | 6-0 QB | Ranburne
Langley led Region 4 in passing in 2020, passing for 1,425 yards with 13 touchdowns and four interceptions. Langley has great size and can make accurate throws all over the field. He avoids pressure with his quick legs and can escape the pocket when necessary and pick up yards on the ground.
Jermarey Lawson | 5-11 RB | Vincent
Lawson finished with 685 rushing yards during his junior year. He has a quick burst out of the backfield and can move past defenders to gain first downs. Lawson is a physical tailback and can fight for extra yards when the defense is collapsing on the play.
He is also great at catching passes out of the backfield to make the defense switch into pass coverage after the snap.
Tyler Craft | 6-5 WR, DE | Ranburne
Craft had eight touchdown receptions in 2020, but could go for many more in 2021.
At 6’5″, Craft is a lengthy receiver that can gain separation off the line of scrimmage and dart past defenders for an open catch. After the catch, he uses his quick speed to race to the endzone or avoid tackles.
James Carmichael James Carmichael 5'10" | 155 lbs | WR Comer | 2023 State AL | 5-10 WR, DB | Comer
Carmichael enters his junior year with the opportunity to play a big role. At 5’10″, Carmichael has great hands and can haul in any pass thrown his way.
On the outside, he is a significant asset to the offense and can be used a lot in the deep attack.
Caden Story Caden Story 6'4" | 230 lbs | ATH Lanet | 2022 State AL | 6-4 QB, OLB | Lanett
Story is an exceptional quarterback with great poise in the pocket. He releases the ball quickly and can target any open receiver. Outside of the pocket, Story can change the game with his rushing attack to gain extra yards. He has a strong arm that could translate to much success in 2021.
Johnathan Wilson | 5-10 ATH | Randolph County
Wilson is used all over the field for Randolph County. Last season, he carried the ball for 425 yards and seven touchdowns. In 2021, Wilson could be one of the top athletes on the football field in all of Class 2A. He has great versatility and can play any position at any time.
Gauge Mitchell | 5-10 OG, ILB | Randolph County
Mitchell plays offensive guard and inside linebacker with a ton of upside.
At offensive guard, Mitchell is a bit undersized in terms of height but has solid strength to protect his quarterback in the pocket. He can block well to open holes in the running game and rarely allows a defender to get past him.
At inside linebacker, Mitchell is a strong force that can jump the snap and get into the backfield and apply pressure or stay in pass coverage and read the quarterback’s eyes to make a quick tackle after the receiver catches the ball.
