There are some talented players being overlooked that will find their way into the next update. These five players fit this description, and they will be making their debuts in the upcoming Top 200.
James Kriegh – Trego, 5’10”, 175, RB/ATH
Kriegh might not be well known throughout the state since he’s in the 8-Man Division, but he showed a lot of promise as a sophomore. Trego had a frustrating year, but Kreigh made the most of his expanded role. He rushed for over 500 yards averaging a solid 4.9 yards per carry, and he scored six touchdowns. He’s also turned some heads after running a low 4.4 40 time this spring. He’ll be a player to keep an eye on this season.
Malachi Berg – Topeka West, 6’2”, 185, QB
Berg is a quarterback ready to have a strong junior campaign. He made a lot of big-time throws as a sophomore and showed a glimpse of what to expect this season. Berg can air it out. He shows nice accuracy on throws down the field and is good about having his head on a swivel to evade defenders. The young signal caller isn’t afraid to put his shoulder down and gain extra yards either.
Bryce Salmans – Hays, 6’2”, 215, TE
Hays has some notable players on their roaster, and Salmans should be another one to know over these next two years. The young man is built like he’s ready for the collegiate level. He’s an excellent blocker and can be a threat in the passing game with his ability to get yards after the catch. Salmans has been showing out this spring, posting a 4.6 in the 40 and a 34-inch vertical at a recent combine. His role on varsity should expand significantly as a junior this fall.
Ma’kenttis Adams – Washburn Rural, 5’9”, 185, RB
Adams will be a great addition to an already deep running back class. He earned 2nd Team All Centennial League honors for his performance this past fall. Adams is a back that reads his blocks well and shows a quick acceleration once he hits the hole. He’s a tough runner that won’t go down easy, and if he gets past the second level of the defense, he could have reservations for six. Adams will look to build on his success this season.
Bryce Cohoon – Maize, 6’2”, 180, WR
Cohoon is a wideout that could be in store for a huge junior year. Maize’s offense is pass heavy, giving Cohoon plenty of opportunities to be a big target in the middle of the field for Avery Johnson Avery Johnson 6'2" | 175 lbs | QB Maize | 2023 State KS . He showed flashes of this in 2020, hauling in 15 passes for 242 yards, with an impressive 16 yards per catch. Cohoon has showcased his explosiveness at recent combines, posting times in the 4.5 range for the 40, a 4.28 in the 3-Cone and jumping 34 inches in the vertical.
