2022 Julian Diedrich Julian Diedrich 5'9" | 180 lbs | RB Wayzata | 2022 State MN (WR) 5’9 / 180
Diedrich caught 37 passes for 709 yards and 6 TD in 2020, averaging 101 yds/game. There are two things that impress me about Diedrich. The first is his speed. He has great top end speed and is able get behind the secondary for big plays. The second is how he makes sharp breaks when running routes. Diedrich caught several passes running slant routes out of the slot position. Showing that he can create good separation in his routes. He showed good concentration and the ability to catch passes in traffic. Diedrich also has good balance and can stay on his feet after taking a hit.
Diedrich led the Trojans in receptions and receiving yards in 2020. He was selected All-district.
Diedrich is receiving looks from several schools including Bemidji State and St. Thomas.
2022 Amir Everett (WR) 6’1 / 180
Everett had 32 receptions for 442 yards and 4 TD in 2020. What really impressed me about Everett is that he is on the same page with his QB. He is able to find the hole in a defense and make plays when things break down. Everett also has great hands and showed nice ability to catch the ball in traffic. Everett has great athleticism and balance. He is able to take a hit, stay on his feet, and gain yards after contact. Everett has the strength and versatility to play TE as he was asked to do at times during the 2020 season.
Everett is a natural leader and will be a 2 year captain. He also earned First Team All-District in 2020.
Amir is getting looks from several school including the University of North Dakota.
2022 Cayden Holcomb Cayden Holcomb 5'10" | 180 lbs | ATH Rochester Mayo | 2022 State MN (WR) 5’10 / 180
290 Bench, 375 squat, 260 hang clean, 4.57 40, 3.1 GPA
Holcomb hauled in 34 receptions of 538 yards and 2 TD in 2020, averaging 15.8 yds/rec. The first thing that jumped out at me when watching film on Holcomb is how he catches the ball away from his body. He has great hands. Holcomb is also a very good route runner and is able to create separation between himself and defensive backs. He also showed he has the speed and quickness to turn short receptions into big plays. Holcomb is also an excellent blocker on the outside. He uses his body well and has the strength to stay on the block.
Holcomb is a 2x All-district player and 2x All-area player. He was also named All-district special teams player of the year in 2020. I expect to see good things from Holcomb in the 2021 season.
2022 Josh Dykhoff (WR)
Dykhoff grabbed 29 receptions for 441 yards and 8 touchdowns in 2020 averaging over 15 yds/catch. Dykhoff is a good sized receiver and has good quickness for his size. He has a very good football IQ and make good decisions on the field. He ran most of his routes out of the slot and showed great skill catching the ball over the middle.
Dyhoff was 1st team All-district and Team offensive MVP in 2020.
2022 Braden Jones (WR) 6’0 / 180
Jones caught 19 passes for 229 yards and 5 touchdowns in a shortened 4 game season in 2020. Jones has a great ability to go up and get a ball at its high point. Along with that he is very good at making adjustments with his body to catch the ball. Jones runs good routes and is able to create separation between himself and defensive backs. He has great concentration and is to make catches over multiple defenders. Jones is a dynamic special teams player as well. He returned 7 kicks for 134 yards averaging 19.1 yds/return.
Jones was selected All-district in 2020. He will be a 2 year starter and team captain in 2021.
2022 AJ Burns (WR) 6’1 / 180
Burns grabbed 23 passes for 457 yards and 7 touchdowns in 2020. This speedy receiver is able to get behind the defense and make big plays. Burns has great body control and is able to make tough catches. He has very good hands and does a good job catching the ball away from his body. Burns can play from the slot and has the size to play out wide. He is good at catching balls over the middle or down the sideline.
2022 Matt Thompson (WR) & 2022 Luke Joos (WR)
For this one I am going with a pair of teammates. Thompson and Joos combined for 44 receptions, 722 yards and 13 TDs in 2020.
Thompson is a big target with great hands. He also has good speed and agility for his size. But what impresses me about Thompson is his ability to go up over defenders and make a catch. Thompson is also a very solid blocker on the outside.
Joos is a smaller target but has great acceleration and good top end speed. He has the ability to take a short pass and turn it into a big play. Joos is a very fast strong player that is tough to bring down in space. He is a very explosive player with the ability to get behind team’s secondaries and with his ability to make quick cuts he becomes a very difficult player to defend.
2022 Levi Lampert (WR)
Lampert had 42 catches for 749 yards and 14 TD in 2020. Lampert is a talented WR with big play capability. What I noticed about Lampert is his ability to make defenders miss. He has great agility. He showed he can make a defender miss and then has the speed to break a long run. Lampert also showed he has soft hands and the concentration to make catches in traffic.
