With a great field of recruits looking to open their final camp season with a bang, a few naturally stood out.
Noah Hartsoe- JR Tucker (Richmond)
Hartsoe at 6’4″ and 330lbs is a big, big guy and knows how to use it as he is very physical and performs in the classroom where he has a 4.42 GPA. Hartsoe is someone I hadn’t seen at camps before and has no offers yet but with his size, GPA, and performance at the camp, he could see that change. Hartsoe is a guard and will probably stay there at the next level, I would like to see more of Hartsoe against different competition but right now I’m sold on him being a quality guard in college.
Ashtin Ancheta- Nansemond River (Suffolk)
Ancheta impressed a lot during 1-on-1s and has size sitting at 6’2″ and 300lbs. Ancheta transferred to Nansemond River after being named to the All-Metro team offensive line at Portsmouth Christian and is a former 1st team All-State offensive lineman. Ancheta is physical and has good footwork. Ancheta also shows out in the weight room with a 525lb deadlift and a 430+ pound squat. Ancheta is looking for his first offers.
Tristan Blazer- Midlothian
Blazer, who plays tackle and guard at Midlois 6’5″ and 250lbs, undersized when looking at the average height of FCS/FBS level offensive linemen but Blazer is agile, which he showcased during the offensive line tic-tac-toe drill. I want to see more from Blazer before I put him into our rankings and he has no offers yet.
Isaiah Montgomery Isaiah Montgomery 6'5" | 280 lbs | OL Landstown | 2022 State VA – Landstown (Va Beach)
Montgomery is the only player here to be listed on our 2022 rankings as he came in at 20th in our initial rankings, the Landstown product is a stud, standing at 6’5″ and 280lbs, Montgomery is the prototypical size for an FBS offensive lineman. Montgomery has good footwork and good hands and will be a solid offensive tackle at the next level, I’ve seen Montgomery a lot at camps and he has a very high motor. A few colleges have already gotten in on Montgomery including Illinois, Boston College, West Virginia, Maryland, NC State, Indiana, Georgia Tech, Michigan State, FSU, Minnesota, Pitt, UVA, Virginia Tech, Tennessee, and Old Dominion.
Toriono Combs- Portsmouth Christian
Combs benefitted from Portsmouth Christian having transfer OL/DL Omega Williams in the building last year as I have seen his performance improve a lot since I saw him at camps last season and that change transferred to the field last season for the Patriots, Combs is 6’1″ and has a 520lb bench press which showed during 1-on-1 drills. Combs has no offers yet.
We will be looking at 2023/24 recruits next, later in the week.
