Offensive Line
Brock Garrison, OL, Muscatine (IA) (2022)
Twitter: @BrockGarrison58
Garrison showed swift hands in the 1on1 drills I watched on Saturday afternoon in Bettendorf. When I rolled Brock’s film, I saw a prospect that plays lean and is an excellent pull blocker. He is a versatile hog molly that can finish his blocks and has great run blocking tendencies when clearing the running lanes for his tailback. Garrison is currently being persuaded by most of the Northern Sun and some light FCS interest to go along with it.
Cody Fox Cody Fox 6'4" | 265 lbs | OL East Buchanan | 2024 State IA , OL, East Buchanan (IA) (2024)
Twitter: @CodyFox94
When I watched Fox on Saturday, I had a tough time believing this young man is only a freshman as he looked like a seasoned vet from my eyes in Bettendorf. Fox has a pretty quick jump off the snap and can. With his 6’4 260-pound frame, Fox has a big punch already that will only get better with time. He does an excellent job as far as blocking until the whistle blows and can be a problem pull blocker on the outside because of his speed off the snap. I am willing to bet Cody Fox Cody Fox 6'4" | 265 lbs | OL East Buchanan | 2024 State IA will be a top 3 offensive line prospect when our Class of 2024 rankings comes out in Iowa.
Gatlin Ford, OL, Moline (IL) (2022)
Twitter: @GatlinFord
When I got my first look at Ford on Saturday afternoon, I was very impressed with how much effort he puts in on every block. When you roll his film, you see the exact same thing, a road grader that packs a great punch that can drive the defensive linemen to that second level. He has so much muscle in his upper body and can finish by putting players in a defenseless position with his strong size. He certainly has next-level potential at 6’2 300 pounds and has gotten some interest at the Division I level.
Jacob Perales, OL, Clinton (IA) (2024)
Twitter: @jacobperales16
Perales showed off great stamina in our drills, landing a significant amount of punches every rep he got on Saturday. As just a freshman, Perales can develop a stronger bend at the waist and a better stance in position but has the 6’3 285 pound frame just to maneuver others right where he wants them to be. This kid will win battles with his active hands and looks to be an effective run blocker in the comings years with some work on his technique.
Liam Becher Liam Becher 6'6" | 310 lbs | OL Iowa City West | 2022 State IA , OL, Iowa City West (IA) (2022)
Twitter: @BecherLiam
One thing I know is a fact from Saturday, Becher turned a ton of heads of PRZ scouts and college coaches on Saturday. Becher’s hand fighting is what sticks out to me on film as his hands and extremely active in every single clip you see of him. With such an excellent frame, Becher shows the best of both worlds as he can also paving the road to the second level with his tremendous push. Becher had his first NAIA offer come in February, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see this All-State talent get a Division II offer soon as he’s been heavily pressed by the Northern Sun and RMAC.
Mason Sorensen, OL, Dubuque Senior (IA) (2023)
Twitter: @masonsorensen1
If I had to give the nod for the most eye-opening Class of 2023 offensive linemen from Saturday, it would go to Dubuque Senior’s Mason Sorensen. Sorensen’s tape shows a prospect that has a really good bend and has a solid pad level on the bulk of his blocks. Sorensen makes swift work on his blocks, and I recommend not blinking while watching his film, as you might miss the play for how quick he puts defenders on the turf. Sorensen is a 2023 prospect to watch that should be on the next Iowa rankings update in the Class of 2023, in my opinion!
Mateo Rosas, OL, Bettendorf (IA) (2022)
Twitter: @Mateo_Rosas2022
Rosas was one of the smallest offensive linemen (5’10, 260) of this group but caught my eyes in the early drills due to his speed. Rosas has extremely active feet, and with that quick footwork speed, can get downhill quick on his blocks. Rosas has good strength and can get strong leverage on mostly bigger defenders he goes up against. Do not let the size fool you, as Rosas can get into that second level and finish his blocks with plenty of drive in his legs.
Defensive Line
Andrew Harris Andrew Harris 6'3" | 235 lbs | DL Southeast Polk | 2022 State IA , DL, Southeast Polk (IA) (2022)
Harris looked to be very explosive when I watched him go in 1on1 drills on Saturday. He shows off solid vision on film and makes good reads when he erupts into the backfield. Harris has a quick shedding ability to get off defenders quickly. His engagement level in the backfield is very high, and I see him as a strong run stuffer at the next level with good physicality. I think he can get even more physical going into his senior season at Southeast Polk.
Landon Stolte, DL, Lisbon (IA) (2023)
Twitter: @LandonStolte76
Stolte was a defensive linemen prospect that made my notepad on Saturday. He came as a prospect that knows where his fit is at the next level. Stolte was All-District Honorable Mention on the offensive line last year, but his quick jump off the ball seals the deal for him as a college-level defensive end. He exceeds how lean he plays, but he’s a finisher type on the offensive line that makes it look easy. Stolte moves well in between tight spaces with his burst and should be one of two Lisbon prospects to watch on the defensive front this fall. Stole also is a very bright student with a 3.9 GPA.
Tyson Scott Tyson Scott 6'1" | 225 lbs | DL Lisbon | 2022 IA , DL, Lisbon (IA) (2022)
Twitter: @Tysonscott75
Scott showed off quite fluid hips with his ability to turn this Saturday. Scott gets off the line quicker than most nose guards I have seen across the Midwest. Scott has solid stamina to move to the outside of the field with his 230-pound frame. Super physical presence whenever he gets a hit on someone. It’s easy to see why Scott was a ranked prospect in our Class of 2022 rankings.
Zavion McMurran, DL, Estherville Lincoln Central (IA) (2023)
Twitter: @mcmurran9
McMurran is looked to be a lean yet sneaky defensive line prospect I learned about on Saturday. McMurran can cover significant ground on the defensive front. The best part? He is a wait till the end of the clip type of player to see all the pop he has in his hitting ability, which I’m sure he gets from the wrestling mat. His explosive outweighs his speed in my eyes as he has excellent vision and makes the bulk of his plays when the QB leaves the pocket.
