No. 7 Zach Thomas/5-8/Morris Catholic
Thomas caught 53 passes for 777 yards (14.7 ypc) and five touchdowns in nine games last season.
No. 6 Ian Ver Steeg/6-1/171/Shawnee
Ver Steeg caught 32 passes for 524 yards (16.4 ypc) and seven touchdowns in seven games last season. Ver Steeg had season highs in catches, touchdowns and yardage when he caught 10 passes for 196 yards and three touchdowns in a 44-25 win over Sparta on Nov. 20.
No. 5 Jerome Edwards/6-0/160/Bayonne
Edwards caught 14 passes for 405 yards (28.9 ypc) and seven touchdowns in five games last season. That’s a lot of production for limited touches. We’d like to see how he looks running other types of routes outside of the vertical ones on his highlight video. It’s hard to ignore that almost half of the passing yardage from his starting quarterback are attributed to Edwards.
No. 4 Jon Wyatt/6-2/175/St. Thomas Aquinas
Wyatt caught 23 passes for 584 yards (25.4 ypc) and eight touchdowns in seven games last season. He also put in a major work on the defensive side of the football as a cornerback. Wyatt caught five interceptions and made a major case to be considered an athlete in our rankings. We like his big-play capability on offense, so we’ll keep him at the wide receiver slot for now.
No. 3 Anthony Johnson/Burlington Township
Johnson caught 23 passes for 675 yards (29.3 ypc) and eight touchdowns in seven games last season. I’m a little surprised that he doesn’t at least have an FCS-level offer. That should change in the next several months if colleges see what I’m seeing.
No. 2. JoJo Bermudez JoJo Bermudez 5'10" | WR Cedar Creek | 2022 State NJ /5-10/170/Cedar Creek
Bermudez committed to Rutgers on Nov. 5, 2020. He chose Rutgers over Central Michigan, UConn, Syracuse, Old Dominion, and a couple of others. Bermudez caught 35 passes for 486 yards and two touchdowns in eight games. He also rushed 37 times for 410 yards and five touchdowns.
No. 1 Amari Clark Amari Clark 6'1" | WR Woodrow Wilson | 2022 State NJ /6-2/202/Woodrow Wilson
Rutgers could not land New Jersey’s top wide receiver, Amari Clark Amari Clark 6'1" | WR Woodrow Wilson | 2022 State NJ . He committed to Maryland over 10-plus other schools on Aug. 8, 2020. Clark caught 24 passes for 321 yards and three touchdowns in six games last season. In three games, they held him to two catches. We had time to watch him extensively during a 7v7 tournament back in April. Clark scored a few touchdowns throughout the weekend.
