We have been taking a look at some of the standouts (links at the bottom of the page) and are now turning our attention to the top defensive prospects in the Class of 2023.
Jaydon Woodall Jaydon Woodall 6'1" | 275 lbs | DL Parkway West | 2023 State MO , DL, Parkway West, 5-11, 275
Woodall was listed by his high school team as an offensive lineman and defensive lineman, but only worked on the defensive side during the Showcase. He’s an impressive looking kid who looks like he will be a problem for opposing offensive linemen the next two seasons.
Woodall was credited with 14 tackles, including two for losses, in five games this past season.
Cameron Wright Cameron Wright 5'11" | 205 lbs | LB De Smet | 2023 MO , OLB, De Smet, 5-11, 184
De Smet has had some good linebackers the past few years and Wright looks like he’s on his way to becoming that kind of player.
He recorded a 4.87 hand-timed 40, 30-inch vertical leap and a broad jump of 8 feet 9 inches.
As a sophomore this past season, Wright recorded 23 tackles, one sack and one fumble recovery.
Wyatt Haverstick Wyatt Haverstick 6'2" | 185 lbs | LB CBC | 2023 State MO , OLB, CBC, 6-1, 182
Haverstick’s testing numbers may have been the best, all-around, among all the 2023 prospects in attendance on Saturday.
He ran a 4.79 hand-timed 40 (4.89 laser), recorded a broad jump of 9 feet 2 inches and a vertical leap of 29 1/2 inches.
Haverstick hasn’t had much experience on the varsity level yet, but he has a chance to emerge as a nice prospect over the next two years as he fills out his long and lean frame and continues to get stronger.
NOTE: Film below is from a JV game this past season.
