We had college coaches in attendance to take a look at 2022, 2023, and 2024 talents that came to play. It was a great showcase with athletes from Illinois and Indiana competing against one another, with that being said here are 10 names to know heading into the fall.
QB Caige Williams 22’ Bradley Bourbonnais Twitter
I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know Mr. Williams and got to see him live in action for his last spring season game. He’s an under-the-radar type of talent that has a touch on the deep ball and can get the ball out quickly. He broke the single-season passing yards for his team this spring where he only played 4 full games at QB. Mr. Williams is going to hone his craft this off-season and be a name to know this fall, which will result in gaining interest from the next level.
QB RJ Cluxton 22’ Neuqua Valley Twitter
I’ve seen Mr. Cluxton on film but it was the first time I got to see him in person. He has a big frame which helps him get the ball off under pressure and showcased his arm talents at the showcase. He’s a part of a talented Neuqua Valley team that is going to be deadly this fall, look for him to be at the helm of the offense and gain college interest.
QB Sean Cruz 22’ Evanston Township Twitter
This is the first time seeing Mr. Cruz in action, he ran a 4.5 40 showcasing his speed at the showcase and showed off his arm talents as well. What interests me the most about Mr. Cruz is that he’s an overall athlete that gets it done in both the air attack with his arm and in the ground game with his legs. He’s another player that’s flying under the radar at the moment, but I expect this to change as we get ready for the fall season to start up in a few months.
WR Quentin Spencer 22’ Wheaton Warrenville South Twitter
I’ve seen Mr. Spencer on film and it doesn’t do him justice. His playmaking abilities during one on ones were stellar and on more than one occasion he high-pointed the ball to make the contested catch. Mr. Spencer has goo change of direction which helps him get out of his routes quickly, works back towards the ball, and runs crips routes. He’s going to turn heads come this fall as he is positioned to be their number one receiver and get more opportunities to showcase his skillset.
WR Archie Cox 22’ Fremd Twitter
Mr. Cox had good combine testing and to top it off he has stellar route running where he is able to stack the defender and make a break at the top of the route creating separation from the defender. He has the speed to go with this and is quick off of the line of scrimmage stretching the field vertically. Mr. Cox is a name to know heading into this fall season for Fremd and look for college interest to start gaining traction as well.
TE Grayson Dexter Grayson Dexter 6'4" | 245 lbs | OL Bradley-Bourbonnais | 2022 State IL 22’ Bradley Bourbonnais Twitter
Mr. Dexter switched positions this spring going from TE to T where he shined this spring season. He came into this showcase as a TE to show he can still get it done at that position. His recruiting picked up the last few months by getting 2 offers heading into this showcase and has interest from other schools as well for multiple positions (TE, DE, & T). Mr. Dexter is a versatile player that can play all three of these positions at a high level and had solid combine testing at this showcase. He’s gained traction in recruitment where he was featured in Tom Lemming’s report, All-State 2nd team, and has been getting more interest from the next level. He’s a name to know heading into the fall that is going to turn heads once the pads get put on again.
DL Eli Shereshovech 22’ Buffalo Grove Twitter
Mr. Shereshovech dominated this spring season in Illinois where he was a stat sheet stuffer for his defense and this translated into his performance at the showcase. He had solid combine testing and did well during one on ones where he was able to showcase his use of hands at the point of attack and shedding the blocks to get into the backfield. Coming off of a strong junior season this spring look for Mr. Shereschovech to continue to build off of that performance heading into camp/showcases in the spring and into the fall season as well.
DL Tyler Hendricker Tyler Hendricker 6'4" | 230 lbs | DL Peotone | 2022 State IL 22’ Peotone Twitter
Mr. Hendricker did the dirty work in the trenches during the spring season for Peotone’s defense. He came into the showcase with an offer already from Loras College, and I expect him to have more come his way. At the showcase, he did a solid job during the combine testing and went after it during one on ones. He’s quick off of the line of scrimmage and is good at using his hands at the point of attack with his speed rush. With his performance here, I expect Mr. Hendircker to continue to hone his skillset heading into his senior season this fall and for college interest to keep rising.
LB Jacob Bottarini 22’ Marmion Academy Twitter
Mr. Bottarini is at the helm of Marmion’s linebacker core and did a good job with his combine testing numbers showing his athleticism. Not only did he do good there, he also showcased his good technique during one on ones to stay in the receiver’s hip pocket and taking good breaks at the top of the route to make the play. What I like the most about Mr. Bottarini is that he simply gets after it and attacks no matter who he’s defending. Keep an eye on Mr. Bottarini as he looks to build off of his strong spring performance heading into his senior season this fall.
DL Keeven Blanton Keeven Blanton 5'11" | 285 lbs | OL Phillips | 2023 State IL 23’ Phillips Twitter
Mr. Blanton is one of the younger defensive linemen that were at the showcase on Saturday but he came ready for the challenge. During one on ones, he was able to win reps with his aggressiveness at the point of attack where he is quick off of the line of scrimmage topped with his use of hands. Mr. Blanton hasn’t been new to showcase/camps as each time he continues to do better and better showing that he’s developing his craft each time. He still has room to develop further and as he does so he’s going to gain college interest.
