THIS WEEK’S TOP STORIES
First Offer Alert!
It was a busy week at Choctaw last week as two of their prospects picked up their first offers. Let’s face it, it’s always a busy week at Choctaw when it comes to recruiting because they might have the most prospects in the state that currently hold D1 offers. And what’s scary is that they have a few other guys that should be right around the corner.
Up first, it was Vanderbilt offering Choctaw’s 2023 tight end RJ Jackson RJ Jackson 6'4" | DL Choctaw | 2023 State OK . At this time last year, Jackson appeared to be the top tight end prospect in the state’s 2023 class. The emergence of Bixby’s Luke Hasz Luke Hasz 6'4" | TE Bixby | 2023 State OK and Community Christian’s Bai Jobe Bai Jobe 6'5" | DL Community Christian | 2023 State OK have made that race very interesting. However, Jackson is right there with those guys, the only thing lacking was D1 offers. Not anymore, Vandy gave Jackson his first offer last week and with spring ball and team camps taking place over the next three weeks or so, Jackson should be on the short list for colleges looking for 2023 tight ends because he’s one of the best.
Another Choctaw prospect that maybe doesn’t get as much publicity as the others is 2022 athlete CJ Smith CJ Smith 6'4" | 195 lbs | ATH Choctaw | 2022 State OK . The 2022 prospect can be moved around and don’t be surprised if he looks to fill the void left by OU signee Jordan Mukes Jordan Mukes 6'3" | DB Choctaw | 2021 State OK . Smith is a rangy athlete that has the potential to be a breakout star this fall. He isn’t as well known as some of the other Choctaw standouts but don’t be surprised if he becomes one this fall.
Minnesota Offers 2023 Athletes
We kicked off last week with two 2023 standouts picking up offers from Minnesota. First, it was Plainview two-sport star
Morgan Pearson

picking up an offer from the Golden Gophers. The Plainview wide receiver is one of the top guys at his position in Oklahoma’s 2023 class. He’s also a very talented baseball prospect and has also earned offers for his play on the diamond. Several schools have offered him in both sports.
After Pearson picked up the offer, it was time for Minnesota to offer one of the fastest rising recruits in Oklahoma’s 2023 class. Community Christian standout Bai Jobe Bai Jobe 6'5" | DL Community Christian | 2023 State OK also picked up an offer early in the week. Jobe is a two-way star as a receiver and a defensive end. At this point, we’ve written about Jobe multiple times this offseason so if you follow our coverage, you know his story. If you don’t, Jobe only has six games of football experience as last year was his first year playing the sport. However, at 6’4 and athleticism you just can’t teach, he’s quickly jumping up the 2023 rankings.
More Army Offers For 2022 Playmakers
We don’t have the official number of offers that Army has extended but they continue to go after Oklahoma’s 2022 prospects. Last week, they offered Union 2022 running back
Antonio Smith

and Noble 2022 athlete
Trevor Lorenz

. Both prospects might not be as well known in terms of the 2022 class but they can flat out go.
We start with Smith as he split carries last year with two other running backs in the Union backfield. However, when we saw Union in person, Smith held his own with the other guys at his position. He also gave Union some versatility and had the ability to play safety when needed. Lorenz is one of the more underrated guys in this 2022 class as his 2020 season was limited due to Covid and injuries. However, when he’s on the field, it’s obvious that he is one of the top playmakers at his position in the 2022 class. Both prospects might be underrated right now, but don’t be surprised when they have big 2021 seasons.
