The Marietta Blue Devils are coming off a state championship in 2020, the Walton Raiders are always finding their way deep in the playoffs, the North Cobb Warriors are the reining champions, and you have other respectable programs including Hillgrove, Harrison, and North Paulding. It’s a loaded region, and it’s one that likes to throw the ball around. That means it’s great for returning receivers who are looking to have a big year in 2021.
Here are a few retuning WRs to know in 7A Region 3….
Daniel Martin Daniel Martin 6'3" | 190 lbs | LB Marietta | 2022 State GA – Marietta
He may be one of the top linebacker prospects in the state, but that didn’t stop the four-star athlete from being the Blue Devil’s go-to receiver on offense last year. The 6-foot-2 190-pounder is one of the best athletes in the region and it’s led to offers from Clemson, Florida, Auburn, Vanderbilt, among others. Martin’s 51 catches for 896 yards and 8 TDs made him one of the best playmaking receivers in the entire county last year, making him a reliable option for talented 2022 QB Tyler Hughes Tyler Hughes 6'1" | 195 lbs | QB Marietta | 2022 State GA . The Blue Devils will be pass-happy once again in 2021, and the Hughes to Martin connection is only going to get better as they enter their senior seasons. Look for Martin to once again be one of the region’s leading receivers and one of the best in North Georgia this fall.
Cayden Lee Cayden Lee 5'11" | 150 lbs | WR Hillgrove | 2023 State GA – Hillgrove
There’s been a lot of hype around Lee for a while now, and even though he’s dealt with some injuries so far in his career, it’s easy to see the overall talent, dedication, and effort that he brings to game. He’s an incredibly twitchy receiver with great feet and the ability to create separation. He works hard on his craft, he’s dedicated to perfecting the details of his game, and he’s only getting better. He has good size 6-foot-0 180-pounds, but his reliable hands and ability to get by defenders and make plays down the field make him one of the state’s best in the 2023 class. As a sophomore last season, Lee caught 34 passes for 525 yards and 9 TDs. He was a threat to score each time he touched the ball and should see those numbers improve this fall as a junior. Lee already holds offers from Georgia, Auburn, FSU, and Kentucky, with more likely coming his way down the road.
Rawson MacNeill Rawson MacNeill 6'6" | 195 lbs | WR Walton | 2022 State GA – Walton
One of the most productive receivers in all of North Georgia last year, the Walton Raider was a big target all season for QB Zak Rozsman all season as a junior. His big-play ability led to 29 catches for 493 yards and 3 touchdowns. Not only was he an impressive route-runner, but he showed good speed for his 6-foot-5 190-pound frame to go along with outstanding ball skills. He’s able to create separation on his own, but he does a great job of using his long frame to snatch the ball away from smaller defenders. He was a big threat on the outside and made a lot of tough grabs not only over the middle, but in the red-zone as well. The three-star will be one of the top returning playmakers in the region and should see a heavy dose of passes come his way as a senior.
