To say it was a success is an understatement, as the energy there was electric. Some players are already highly recruited prospects, while others made a name for themselves and will definitely see a start in their recruitment. There were players from nearly every level of Arizona high school football and it was something you love to see. You had 2A kids running routes against 6A kids and proved to be legit competitors. A big shout out to Coach Younger and the rest of the RVC staff for having me there. Here’s a recap of the RVC Showcase from May 1st at Campo Verde High school:
Offensive MVP: Terryon Rowe, WR, 6’0″ 175lbs, Mountain Pointe HS ’22
This kid is an animal. He’s a fluid route runner that knows how to generate separation on any given play. He wasn’t a burner in the 40, but possesses that game speed to take the top off defenses or take shallow routes to the house. He displayed excellent body control and was able to haul in difficult catches. He was a frequent target all day in 1on1’s and 7v7, and helped his 7’s team win the championship. Tremendous all around athlete with a very high ceiling.
Defensive MVP: Breshaun Brown, DB, 5’11″ 170lbs, Desert Edge HS ’22
Brown was absolutely lock down on the defensive side of the ball. He does an excellent job tracking the hips of receivers and can be patient or physical without too lunging. He has good twitch with solid speed overall and can bait QB’s into throws while trusting his quickness to break on the ball. He possesses solid ball skills all around and is going to be another lights out DB for Desert Edge during his senior campaign.
Standouts:
Jersey Blassingame, WR, 5’7″ 160lbs, Camp Verde HS ’22
Blassingame was perhaps the best route runner at the camp and one of the best route runners I’ve seen from the slot. He shows excellent twitch and does a tremendous job setting up and disguising his routes. He’s a creative and explosive route runner and was a clear target all day hauling in a big number of receptions. Good burst and speed all around and is a name to get on your radar.
Brandon Craddock Brandon Craddock 6'0" | 215 lbs | LB O'Connor | 2022 State AZ , LB, 6’0″ 210lbs, O’Connor HS ’22
Craddock ran a 4.6 40-time and showed his range on 7v7. He is a very athletic LB with a high ceiling. His physicality is off the charts. On 1on1’s, he was locking slots up where they couldn’t even get into their route. He displayed excellent reaction and instincts with a high football IQ to understand zone responsibilities and diagnose plays. His physicality is off the charts. A clear field general.
Cruz Rushing, DB, 6’2″ 190lbs, Salpointe Catholic HS ’22
Rushing was another DB who was consistently making plays throughout the day. He sizes up with good length and does a great job diagnosing developing routes and concepts. He had an impressive INT over 2 receivers in the endzone on 7v7 which put his athleticism on full display.
Johnny Bellino Johnny Bellino 6'0" | 175 lbs | WR American Leadership Academy (Gilbert North) | 2022 State AZ , WR, 6’0″ 170lbs, ALA-Gilbert North ’22
Bellino was a TD machine and a big time threat as an X/Z. Don’t underestimate his speed, he is a burner in the back end and a clear deep threat. Solid route runner overall and is explosive at the top of routes to generate separation. He’s probably the best WR in 3A ball, and put his name on the map after his performance.
John West, DB, 5’9″ 160lbs, Deer Valley HS ’22
West was a ball hawk with loose hips and excellent closing speed as a CB. He looks like he is still growing into his frame as well. He recently transferred to Deer Valley from Desert Heights Prep, and looks to be a new name to bust loose in 4A.
Joseph Clark, ATH, 5’10″ 190lbs, Saguaro HS ’24
The freshman entered the showcase with a ton of hype from his recent Arizona offer, and he delivered. He lined up as a DB and was beast. Solid physicality and did a great job identifying routes and flashed his ball hawk ability. He’s a natural leader at a young age and a very promising prospect.
Ethan Wall, QB, 6’3″ 210lbs, Pinnacle HS ’24
Another freshman that emerged to be a gunslinger. He led his 7v7 team to win the championship, and really progressed throughout the day. He sizes up with a tremendous frame, and recently transferred to Pinnacle from 3A Paradise Honors. Strong arm with good velocity and will only continue to mature and develop.
