Continue ReadingAs we head into camp season, the first big camp for the trench warriors will be the Lineman Only Series camp in Richmond on May 22nd. We have obtained a preliminary roster and it looks like a great compilation of talent. Let’s look at the defensive line and the top six players signed up so far on that side. Rosters are subject to change.
2022 Life Christian (Richmond) Tyrique Tucker
Bullzoder. Mack Truck. Both could be used to describe Tucker. 6’2″ and 205lbs, Tucker has a solid body and I found out first-hand last summer that he knows how to use it as a video of Tucker during drills went viral. Tucker is a monster on the line and has been proving it. Click on his name to see what I mean.
Tucker was not in our initial 2022 rankings but will be here when we update. The mack truck currently has offers from Norfolk State and Fordham so far.
2022 King’s Fork (Suffolk) Kyree Moyston Kyree Moyston 6'6" | 215 lbs | DL King's Fork | 2022 State VA
What more can I say about Moyston? A star at the recent Under Armour camp, a stud on the field during the COVID season, and a potentially elite DL prospect. I’ve already talked a lot about Moyston on here, he has the speed, size, moves, and everything you want in a DL prospect and I see him as an edge guy, getting to the QB and making a home in the backfield.
Currently ranked 15th in our 2022 rankings, Moyston is looking good to move up. Currently, he has offers from Michigan State, Marshall, West Virginia, Washington State, Florida International, East Carolina, Pitt, Indiana, Arizona State, ODU, Arizona, Coastal Carolina, Liberty, Toledo, Kansas, UVA, and Virginia Tech.
2022 Kempsville (Va Beach) Jaylon White Jaylon White 6'5" | 240 lbs | DL Kempsville | 2022 State VA
I met White for the first time when Kempsville broke their 60+ game losing streak in October of 2019 after his house burnt down and his family was scattered. He was raw, but what I saw that day sold me on him.
White has all the intangibles needed, and the moves, along with a 6’5″, 230lb frame. White was ranked 64th in our first 2022 ranking and has offers from Fordham, Bowling Green, and Old Dominion.
2022 Benedictine (Richmond) Dylan Faniel
I first saw Faniel last year at a few camps and came away impressed. 6’3″ and 225lbs so Faniel has good size. In only four games this spring, Faniel showed off a few new tricks so I’m excited to see what he can do this summer versus when I saw him last year. Faniel did not make our initial 2022 rankings but there is always room to add when we update them.
Just this week, Faniel picked up his first offer from Navy.
2023 Bayside (Va Beach) Lemar Law Lemar Law 6'5" | 260 lbs | TE Green Run | 2023 State VA
Law, who also plays tight end at Bayside is a great prospect. With a 6’5″ frame and great ball skills, I’m very intrigued that he is coming to a camp at DL, but he may just be trying to show colleges his skills at multiple spots. Law is ranked fifth in our 2023 rankings and holds offers from UVA, Old Dominion, Maryland, and Virginia Tech.
2022 Portsmouth Christian Jayshaun & Jahquan Alston
The Alston brothers anchored the DL for Portsmouth Christian in the fall as they were one of two Hampton Roads private schools to play. Neither has any offers yet despite good tape. Both brothers also play and start on the PCS offensive line, although they are probably better suited on defense, we will see if they can play themselves into our 2022 rankings with some good camp showings this summer.
We will have coverage of the camp on May 22nd and articles post-camp as well.
