They both come off short 5 game COVID seasons, but did everything they could with the opportunity they had. They both show signs of having strong senior seasons next year given a full season. Take a look at the offensive and defensive Washington twitter players of the week:
Offensive Spotlight
Nate Beck Nate Beck 5'11" | 170 lbs | QB Kentlake | 2022 State WA , QB, 5’11″ 165lbs, Kentlake HS ’22
Film: https://www.hudl.com/profile/10912434/Nate-Beck
Beck showed a glimpse of what he can bring to the table in a short 5 game COVID season for Kentlake. He threw for 1,133 yards and 13 TD’s, while adding another 2 TD’s on the ground. He displays good pocket mobility and senses pressure well, having that natural “clock”. The southpaw has a live arm and delivers with a smooth release. He shows solid torque on throws to help get that extra velocity and zip to fit throws into tight windows. He throws an excellent deep ball and loves to take shots and drive the ball downfield. Beck has shown the ability to hit vertical receivers with near perfect placement in stride. He can put velocity on hole shots on verts concepts when facing a cover 2 and displays a ton of potential. He is a natural leader on and off the field and will only continue to mature as a QB. Although he only had just over 100 yards rushing on the year, the stats don’t do him justice. He is athletic enough to pick up yards on the ground, and I would love to see him get more opportunities to showcase his ability to make plays on the ground.
Defensive Spotlight
Christopher Hart, DB, 5’8″ 180lbs, Mariner HS ’22
Film: https://www.hudl.com/profile/15707160/Chris-Hart-Jr
Don’t let his size fool you, Hart is a playmaker on the defensive side of the ball and plays with a high motor and brings that energy every game. He finished the short 5 game season with 41 tackles, 7 PBU’s, 2 INT’s, and 1 forced fumble. He’s a hybrid type player for Mariner as he roams the field and can make plays anywhere he lines up. He has solid range in the back half and is a fly around player. He diagnoses routes and concepts well and breaks on the ball effectively. Good athleticism all across the board, and has showed the ability to man up and track the hips of receivers. He has a good nose for the ball in general and will only continue to get better. He closes well as a tackler with a low point of contact. He plays very smart for his size. He’s showcased solid speed and pursuit all around to be able to cover ground well or hawk down breakaway ball carriers. Hart is a big time sleeper on the defensive side of the ball, and projects to have a strong senior campaign next year given a full season and holds an NAIA offer from Ottawa (AZ).
