Everyone had a short COVID season, but these guys made the most out of the opportunity they were given. Take a look at the offensive and defensive Washington twitter players of the week:
Defensive Spotlight
Wyatt Tilton, DL, 6’1″ 275lbs, Arlington HS ’23
Film: https://www.hudl.com/profile/13483660/Wyatt-Tilton
Tilton sizes up with a thick frame and excellent strength. He holds a 500lb MAX on squat, and started to figure out how to translate that weight room strength to the field. He does a great job getting leverage on his opponents, as he frequently gets lower and underneath to make up for his height. He’s shown the ability to split double teams and has decent lateral quickness on a couple plays on his film. He’s flashed violent hands on some plays in which he made himself known in opponents backfields. He also flashed a bull-rush ability which will be extremely effective for him as he matures and develops. With his strength, Tilton has the potential to develop into a powerful defensive lineman. He is a 3 sport athlete at Arlington High and holds a 3.8 GPA. He had a significant role as a sophomore, oftentimes lined up at nose, so you can expect his role to be even bigger next year as a junior.

Offensive Spotlight
Mason Juergens, WR, 6’2″ 180lbs, Olympia HS ’23
Film: https://www.hudl.com/profile/6097113/MASON-JUERGENS
Juergens had a promising sophomore season as he was able to rack up 29 receptions for 471 yards and 3 TD’s for Olympia in 5 games played, establishing himself as a legit young talent to keep an eye on in Washington. He can improve as a route runner, but will still have some time to grow and develop in that area. Juergens flashed nice head movement to freeze DB’s or make them lunge where he was able to generate a solid release. As far as ball skills, they’re there. He shows excellent athleticism with the ability to haul in athletic catches with body control. He’s flashed some field awareness to keep a foot in bounds and make a very impressive catch on film. He does a great job after the catch showing excellent balance after contact, which often times sprung him loose for big plays. He can be physical after the catch as well and doesn’t shy away from contact. He was awarded “1st Team All-League WR”, and was a ball hawk on the defensive side of the ball as well. He holds a 4.0 GPA and big potential going forward.
