The rankings were released recently and here are my thoughts on the few players from San Diego who made the rankings and the watch list.
- The top player from San Diego in the rankings was Carlsbad quarterback Julian Sayin Julian Sayin 6'1" | 195 lbs | QB Carlsbad | 2024 State CA and rightfully so. He is the No. 2 overall quarterback in the class and is already a national recruit. He played behind his brother Aidan last season but he showed flashes in limited playing time and impressed everyone at the UC Report Camp in Southern California. His accuracy is off the charts and he already has the arm strength of an upperclassman. Sayin has 13 offers including Florida, Georgia, Notre Dame, Penn State, Texas A&M and Utah.
- The only other player from San Diego ranked in the top 60 is Helix quarterback Ryland Jessee Ryland Jessee 6'4" | 195 lbs | QB Helix | 2024 State CA . He started for the Highlanders this spring and demonstrated some upside. He throws a good deep ball and can extend plays with his legs. He takes unnecessary risks sometimes but he was thrown into the fire as a freshman and more playing time will fix those mistakes.
- Another Helix player made the watch list: Kairo Kahananui Kairo Kahananui 6'0" | 215 lbs | LB Helix | 2024 State CA from Helix. There is an I at the end of his name which we will fix in our database. He is an outside backer who could be a safety depending on the defensive scheme. He excels at flying up the field and maintaining the edge on outside run plays. He can lay down big hits and is a quality tackler. He is solid in pass coverage too and plays 7-on-7 with Team Makasi, the most prominent camp in San Diego. He has been on the camp circuit and will have some offers after a successful sophomore season this fall.

#ClassOf2024 @JesseeRyland gained valuable experience last season. Starting 6 games on varsity as a frosh. Has the frame, ability, and character to play at the next level. #Helix https://t.co/6Va3OOChL7 #hudl
