Their only regional loss would come to Irwin County, which would also end up being their only regular season loss. Due to the Trojans overall 13-2 record, as well as their regional success, they moved on to the playoffs following their regular season. In the playoffs, the Trojans made it all the way to the 4th round, where they would face Irwin County once more. Unfortunately, their season was cut short during their rematch, and they would fall to them 27-19. Because the nature of their exit last season, we are expecting them to enter the 2021 season with a chip on their shoulder, and the desire to win single-handedly win their region. Below, we have listed a few of their players who we think will help them to be able to do so.
Omari Arnold Omari Arnold 5'10" | 190 lbs | RB Brooks County | 2022 State GA – RB
Not only has Arnold gained a good following due to his ability to run the football, but he has also managed to pick up a few offers along the way. With the ball in his hands, he runs with good vision, and twitch, which allows him to change direction on a dime, and get up the field. Along the way, he does a good job of shaking defenders with his quick feet, and sudden burst. Arnold also has good speed and decent balance, which helps him to finish plays and make strong runs. Arnold has a good awareness of the game around him, and he also runs with a good pad level. One thing we are a bit concerned about is his size, weight, and frame. In 2021, we expect him to have another strong season, but we would like to see the positive effect that adding weight may have on his game.
Willie Brown Willie Brown 6'1" | 175 lbs | WR Brooks County | 2022 GA – WR
Standing at 6’2, 180 pounds, Brown is a bit shifty, and runs with good vision when the ball is in his hands. This helps him to get some decent yards after the catch, and to be able to make good plays for his team. While he can be a bit stiff and slower at times, we still like the way he is able to stick his foot in the ground, change direction, and gain separation on routes. His footwork is ultimately what helps him to get out of his breaks, and paired with his burst, we think that Brown is a hard player to stop. He runs with good leverage, and the strength in his lower body, and behind his pads allows him to run through defenders. Brown also does a good job of catching the ball with his hands, and he manages to extend well on catches too. He is able to catch the ball from various angles, and his ability to track the ball is a strength that we think will continue to help him be a great player.
Jamal Sanders- RB
When watching tape on Sanders, it is apparent that he has more of a bulkier, strong running style. This helps to run upright and powerfully, which makes it hard for defenders to bring him down on initial contact. Sanders has great balance, and a good stride and burst. His overall speed helps him to pick up good yards on the ground. At times, he has slower change of direction, but overall, he does a good job of getting in and out of his cuts due to his footwork. As the season approaches, we expect Sanders to continue to take a fair amount of snaps at RB, as he and Arnold will be key pieces of the Trojan’s success.
Tremaine Demps- WR
During the 2020 season, Demps showed plenty of flashes of talent and ability, as he did a good job of tracking the ball with his eyes, and making catches over the shoulder or from awkward angles. With the ball in his hands, he did a good job of finishing plays, and he also used his burst to help him gain good yards on the ground. Demps also showed the ability to high point the football, and to catch in traffic. In doing so, he used his length to his advantage. As the 2021 season approaches, we hope to see him continue to do so, as this would help him to continue to grow as a player.
