Even though they managed to scrape 4 wins in their region, their final season record can almost be viewed as being marginal compared to other teams. Last season, they lost to Alexander, South Paulding, Jackson, and New Manchester. Following their regular season showcase, their final loss of the season came to Blessed Trinity in the first round of the playoffs. Here, they lost to them 49-13, and will likely be looking to avenge this loss as they approach the 2021 season. Next season, expect the key players we listed below to be key in their potential impact as a team.
Yungkee Ellison- OL / DL
Last year, Ellison may have taken a large amount of his snaps on JV, but he will need to step up next season. His wide body and frame helps him to be able to shield off the passer from any unwarranted contact. With this, his quick feet off of the snap of the ball helps him to be able to adjust to any sudden pass rush, and the way he uses his hands and upper body strength helps him to be consistent with strong blocks. Next season, if he can work on his leverage, and the arch of his back in his stance, his initial power off of the line will increase a large amount, and he will see success in being able to block for both the run, and in the passing game.
Jeremy Breeze- LB
Breeze is a bit of a raw, and long prospect, but his way of being able to get to the ball carrier is what makes him a good player. He not only makes plays in pursuit and in the backfield, but he does a good of rolling his hips on contact, and driving his hands. At times, he can be a bit raw in his lateral movement skills, but his burst allows him to make up for false steps, and the way he can be seen to gather as he gets in and out of his breaks. Breeze has decent short area quickness, and vision of the game at hand. With this, we like the way that he can play with discipline in his drops, and the way he reacts to the ball carrier. Next season, to improve in his ability to be an effective LB, he will need to work on his overall movement skills, and the way he plays in space. At times, when he is forced to play the pass, it can appear as if he is a bit slow, or lost in space when turning his head. If he works on such details of his game, he can see his production improve.
Jamazia Williams- DT
Williams may not have seen as much time on the field last season as he would have liked to, but when he was on the field, he did a decent job of rushing the edge and pressuring the passer. Getting off of the ball, he displays good burst, and a decent use of hands that helps him to be able to maneuver around linemen. While his feet may be a bit raw, and he can get caught leaning at times, his length and speed help make up for some of these shortcomings. He is able to make stops in the backfield, and in pursuit because of this. Next season, as we expect him to be able to work on his overall bend and fluidity, we think that he can become a solid, and consistent player for his team’s defense.
