Class of ’22 Rankings Update: Stock Risers
In this article:
There have been several players that have improved their game through the course of this offseason and gained momentum heading into their senior year. These 10 players have stood out the most during this offseason; putting together impressive performances at combines and camps and picking up a few offers along the way. Keep an eye on them as they will look to continue to raise their stock this fall.
Logan Oberle Logan Oberle 6'5" | 245 lbs | TE Shawnee Mission North | 2022 State KS – Shawnee Mission North, 6’5”, 245, TE (No. 145)
Oberle saw the biggest ranking increase out of the group, moving up 41 spots into the Top 150. Recruiters were already interested in his size and potential at tight end and defensive end, but then he really gained their attention after a strong showing at a combine this past spring. Since then, Oberle has picked up three offers, one of which coming from an FCS Division I program. He should continue to draw interest as he progresses through his senior year.
Gabe Peterson Gabe Peterson 6'2" | 245 lbs | DL Blue Valley NW | 2022 State KS -Blue Valley Northwest, 6’2”, 240, DL (No. 77)
Peterson has had quite the offseason. This young man has dominated while competing at combines, proving he is one of the most athletic defensive ends in the state. In addition to this, he has been a beast in the weight room. He ended his junior year setting a school record in the power clean by hitting 335 pounds, and he also reached a 485-pound squat max. His display of strength and athleticism moved him up 28 spots in the rankings, and it has helped him earn three offers.
Terrell Elliot Terrell Elliot 6'2" | 305 lbs | DL Garden City | 2022 State KS – Garden City, 6’2”, 295, DL (No. 47)
Elliot was one of the top defensive tackles in the state during the 2020 season, and he will look to be amongst the best once again this year. His talent was on full display while recently attending a camp at Kanas State, and he will also be competing in the upcoming Sharp Top Prospect Combine. So far, Elliot holds two Division I offers, and he could potentially see more come his way by the end of the ’21 season.
Tai Newhouse Tai Newhouse 6'3" | 285 lbs | DL Lawrence Free State | 2022 State KS – Free State, 6’3”, 285, DL (No. 17)
Newhouse is another dominate defensive lineman that has climbed the rankings. He moves up 19 spots in this Class of ’22 rankings update after his recent commitment to the University of Tulsa. His versatility on the defensive line and his physicality stemming from his wrestling background make him difficult to block. Creating a gameplan to neutralize him will be a must for opposing coaches, because he is primed for another 50 plus tackle season.
Tobi Osunsami Tobi Osunsami 6'2" | 210 lbs | LB Wichita East | 2022 State KS – Wichita East, 6’2”, 185, ATH (No. 22)
Osunsami is widely known for his speed and playmaking abilities, as he has been clocked at 4.44 in the 40, and he helped lead the Aces’ 4×1 team to a 1st place finish at state this past track season. He was being sought after by multiple Division I programs, but he ultimately chose to commit to the Kansas State Wildcats. Osunsami climbed 17 spots in this update and is now the 3rd ranked athlete in the class.
Kenrick Osei-Bonsu Kenrick Osei-Bonsu 6'3" | 195 lbs | DB Olathe North | 2022 State KS – Olathe North, 6’3”, 195, DB (No. 102)
Osei-Bonsu has been showing that he is one of the better press corners in this class while recently attending a camp at Kanas State, and a team camp at Emporia State. He makes it difficult for receivers to get their release off the line because of his long arms and his strength that bumps them off their route. He has moved up 16 spots in the rankings after receiving an offer from Emporia State and gaining serious interest from Kansas State.
Richie Patrick Richie Patrick 6'0" | 180 lbs | DB Lansing | 2022 State KS – Lansing, 6’0”, 180, DB (No. 76)
Patrick has shown off his explosiveness throughout this past spring. He posted good numbers while at the KC Varsity Combines, and he also qualified for the state track meet in the high jump. His efforts have earned him offers from Grand View University and Graceland University. Quarterbacks will need to be cautious when throwing down the field this season with Patrick being over the top.
Camden Barta Camden Barta 6'3" | 200 lbs | ATH Seaman | 2022 State KS – Seaman, 6’3”, 200, DB, (No. 78)
Barta is going to be a safety to know this season. He moves up 15 spots in this update after solid performances at multiple combines and camps, and dominating in the weight room. He’s increased all of his max outs in the weight room, leading to him adding 15 pounds since last season. This added size has helped with his explosiveness, as he’s been clocked at 4.65 in the 40 and he jumped 34 inches in the vertical. Major improvements made by the young man.
Chaylin Peine Chaylin Peine 6'5" | 275 lbs | OL Anderson County | 2022 State KS – Anderson County, 6’5”, 275, OL, (No. 117)
Peine is a huge offensive line prospect that has been drawing interest from multiple Division I programs. He picked up his first Division I offer earlier this month from the University of Central Arkansas. He moves well for his size, and he overpowers defenders with his brute strength. Peine will arguably be the best offensive lineman in the 3A Division this year.
Mikey Pauley Mikey Pauley 6'5" | 200 lbs | QB Blue Valley NW | 2022 State KS – Blue Valley Northwest, 6’5”, 200, QB (No. 35)
Pauley is predominantly known for his potential on the diamond, as he’s a rising baseball prospect already committed to the University of Nebraska. But he also needs to be recognized for his potential on the gridiron. Last month, Pauley scored the 4th highest rating while competing at an Elite 11 showcase in Nashville. This performance has led to an offer from Kansas State, and has moved his ranking up by 10 spots.
