This is possible now because athletes are finally able to be back on campus after a year of COVID shut down. Today we take a look at a few of the top recruits in the state who visited LSU this past week.
First up is Acadiana defensive back Laterrance Welch Laterrance Welch 6'1" | 180 lbs | DB Acadiana | 2022 State LA . Welch took a visit to his new future home which he committed to back at the start if the year in January. One of the most highly rated DBs in the 2022 class was this DB right here and we arent just talking about the state but the entire nation as well.

Welch just didn’t show up to dress up and look pretty. This ultimate competitor showed why he was on of the most shutdown corners in the state. He has a terrific frame, long arms, and is very lean. He should add more mass in college and be even more physical for receivers at the line of scrimmage than he already is. He has a tremendous backpedal and can shut down the best of receivers. He should have a high ceiling in college and be able to come in and produce right away.

Well, he didn’t travel to Death Valley but he is one LSUs top recruits. We are talking about the NO.1 receiver in the state in St.James Shazz Preston Shazz Preston 6'1" | 190 lbs | WR St. James | 2022 State LA . The star wideout took a trip out to southern California this past week to visit the Trojans and take a tour of the campus. Preston’s trip to the trojans seemed to impress the young star but I don’t think it will be enough to make him flip from LSU as being a front runner in his recruitment.

Preston still has visited this summer to go to Austin and check out the 40 acres. There he will meet with coach Steve Sarkisian and staff before he calls traveling to college campus quits for the summer.
LSU, Texas, USC, Alabama, and Georgia are just a few of Preston’s schools that he could be leaning towards. It should be interesting to see what a trip to Cali and Texas can do for this recruit and his decision.
Jacoby Mathews Jacoby Mathews 6'2" | 215 lbs | ATH Ponchatoula | 2022 State LA from Ponchatoula High School recently committed to the tigers back in late April of this year. The Tigers landed a 5-star athlete that was literally the best defensive back in the state and the nation.
Mathews chose to stay home in the state and choose the tigers over the Alabama Crimson tide, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Maimi, Michigan, and many others.

The tigers recruiting class has been very special and the senior class has been no exception. They got one of the premier tackles in all of the nation. 5-star recruits Neville High School Will Campbell Will Campbell 6'6" | 290 lbs | OL Neville | 2022 State LA .
Campbell is 6’6″ and he is a very athletic offensive lineman that is a nasty blocker. He can absolutely flatten people, also shows he can reach block very well, and makes it to the next level with ease.
Cambell will be one of those guys who you could possibly hear his name to be called to play on Sundays. He is that good and should have a high ceiling in college.

Okay, we got the blindside protected now here’s the quarterback. St. Thomas More 5-star QB Walker Howard Walker Howard 6'1" | 185 lbs | QB St. Thomas More | 2022 State LA showed up on campus and showed his love and loyalty to the tigers.
Howard is not a true dual-threat quarterback but he can still move well out of the pocket and throw on the run. He has a strong arm and is great at decision making which is why he rarely ever turns the ball over. He only has a hand dull of interceptions (6) in his three years as a starter on varsity which is nothing in comparison to the over 40 plus touchdowns he has thrown in his career.

DB Marcus Scott, Conroe High School (TX) was also there to show some love to the tigers and visit his future home. Scott committed back at the beginning of the year and wasn’t scheduled for a visit in till September of this year but I guess he didn’t want to miss out on all of the action and meeting with some of his future teammates
