Below, we will dive into some of the film from this past Spring season from some of the top edge rushers that Washington has to offer across all classes.
Jayden Wayne Jayden Wayne 6'5" | 240 lbs | DL Lincoln | 2023 FL , Lincoln HS
Wayne is one of the most physically impressive prospects in the entire country and is rated as a 5-star kid across most recruiting platforms. Already having a college ready frame and build, he is a dominant force off the edge that can very well be playing on Sundays. Only a rising Junior, he holds multiple National offers and is one of the most talented pass rushers in the country. On tape, he has an elite first step and is a natural bender off the edge while covering ground/collapsing the pocket in a hurry due to length and stride. He flashes a quick use of hands upon contact while able to flip his hips without wasted movement and counters on oversets while extremely physical at the POA. He is a rare athlete at the position and can play all over the field, on both sides of the ball.
Jabez Tuaoa, Kentwood HS
Coming off a dominant Freshman season, Tuaoa is an inside player at the next level but plays on the outside due to a 3-man front scheme and sometimes moves to the second level. He has nice twitch for his size and does a good job at reading blocks and staying tight to the LOS when tracing backside and maintaining his gaps while snapping his hands on blockers quickly. He has very good movement abilities for his size and can change direction quickly while versatile enough to even play some inside linebacker. As he progresses through high school, he will continue to develop into one of the most dominant defenders the state has to offer.
Carson Clay Carson Clay 6'3" | 205 lbs | LB Mount Si | 2022 State WA , Mount Si HS
Able to play both outside linebacker and defensive end, Clay is a rangy defensive end that is very active and a high motor prospect. Versatile along the defensive front while able to put his hand in the dirt and stand up, he has good speed off the snap and a nose for the ball and making plays behind the line. He is a strong tackler both in the box and in space, while having a strong initial punch and quickly disengages off blocks without losing ground/contain. He does a job at cross-key reading and working underneath pullers while able to take on multiple blockers and understands gap responsibilities.
Takari Hickle Takari Hickle 6'4" | 240 lbs | DL Tenino | 2022 State WA , Tenino HS
Already holding one FBS offer from Nevada, Hickle is a very impressive prospect that offers a nice ceiling at the next level. He has tremendous lower body strength and can play multiple positions along the defensive front at the next level. He flashes heavy hands upon contact and creates immediate knock-back while maintaining gap control and shedding blockers violently. A very high motor player, he plays with good toughness and physicality, and has rare twitch and movement abilities for someone his size. He is without a doubt a FBS caliber prospect that will only continue to grow and develop.
