Offensive Spotlight
Ryan Oliver Ryan Oliver 6'3" | 195 lbs | QB Lakeridge | 2023 State OR , QB, 6’3″ 195lbs, Lakeridge ’23
Oliver proved to be a promising upcoming prospect for Lakeridge during his sophomore campaign, as he went 93-153 with a 62% completion percentage with 1,188 yards and 12 TD’s and just 2 INT’s. One area I would like to see Oliver improve is his poise in the pocket which should come with experience, as the game should slow down for him as he matures. He’s shown good pocket mobility to avoid the pass rush and deliver accurate throws. Oliver did an outstanding job getting the ball out quick when he needed to and not trying to force anything, showing excellent ball security. He flashed the ability to fit throws in with velocity and possesses solid arm strength all-around. He showed excellent placement throughout the year on outside fades when he uses touch, frequently dropping dimes for his receivers. He throws well out of play action and has shown the ability to extend plays and throw off-platform when needed as well. Oliver was awarded “All-State QB” and “All-TRL” as a sophomore, and holds big potential going forward. Definitely a 2023 kid to get on your radar.
Defensive Spotlight
Daniel Luttrell, DB, 5’10” 200lbs, Sweet Home
Luttrell did a great job for Sweet Home on both sides of the ball, and was a key player in the secondary. He showed a good football IQ as a DB to be able to identify developing routes, primarily when he lined up as a safety. He displayed a nice break on the ball with good anticipation. Luttrell closes well on underneath routes to initiate immediate contact after the catch often, and made his opponents feel it. He did a good job in run support for Sweet Home as well, as he showed the ability to shed and disengage from blocks well to make plays. Luttrell flashes a good striking ability if he can get squared up, as he had numerous big hits and set the tone for the Sweet Home defense. Luttrell holds solid potential and should have a big role for Sweet Home during his senior campaign, and has been seeing attention from NAIA and D3 programs thus far.
