Continue ReadingCamp season is off to a hot start! Student athletes have been balling out and offers have started to be reported. With schools starting to make offers it is only a matter of time until some of Wisconsin’s best start earning collegiate offers. Today, I want to dive into seven athletes who I believe are on the verge of securing their first offer, are going to receive them very soon. Of course we aren’t just going to list these playmakers. I will be providing a quick snapshot of what they have to offer programs at the next level. Disclaimer, I used each athlete’s Twitter account to verify they haven’t received an offer, yet. Let’s get it started!
Josh Witt Josh Witt 6'3" | 300 lbs | OL Ashwaubenon | 2022 State WI , 2022 OL- Ashwaubenon
Josh is at the point in his recruitment where an offer is the clear next logical step. He has been overflowed with phone calls, graphics, and camp invites, primarily from the D1 and D2 levels. The interest is definitely there for the OL from Ashwaubenon. It’s clear to see why when you pop on the tape of the 6’3″ 300 lbs trench monster. Josh embodies the term “road grader”. His play strength allows him to flatten or completely remove defenders from the play, and his athleticism allows him to maintain his block once he gets them in his hands. That athleticism allows him to succeed consistently in pass protection as well. If you are looking for a tone setter in the trenches who will be able to win with technique and strength then you need to start right here. His camp season starts on June 7th in Madison. Pay attention to this kid. Witt’s 1st 3 Games of Junior SZN
Greyton Gannon Greyton Gannon 6'4" | 205 lbs | ATH Mukwonago | 2022 State WI , 2022 QB- Mukwonago
Where do I begin with Greyton. The first thing is he has the prototypical size at 6’4″ 205 lbs, but where he sets himself apart from the rest of the group is how athletically and physically gifted he is. While being that size, he went into the WFCA Combine with 41 other QBs and came out with the best 40 time (4.59), broad jump (10’1″), vertical jump (35.6″), and highest bench press reps of 185 lbs (19). Then you click on the tape of the three sport varsity athlete and you see those traits in action. Gannon plays with a lot of touch on his passes, yet he has the arm strength to stretch the field at any moment. Those athletic testing numbers jump off the screen when he keeps it on the ground and weaves his way through, and sometimes over, the defense. He’s been using that athleticism this spring too where he set the school record in the 200M with a time of 22.09 seconds, and in the 4×200 M relay. Gannon currently holds our QB2 spot in our Class of 2022 Rankings. He has visited Mankato, Duluth, and Augustana this spring, and has received interest from several other programs. Jackson Schooley Jackson Schooley 6'1" | 190 lbs | DB Wisconsin Rapids | 2022 State WI , 2022 DB- Wisconsin Rapids
Jackson is one of Wisconsin’s best DB prospects, and there’s a good shot he is the #1 safety prospect in the state’s Class of 2022. The 6’1″ 190 lbs safety has excellent range for the position. He can line up 15 yards deep and still make the tackle at the line of scrimmage. Getting to the ball is one thing, Jackson capitalizes on the range by also being a very sure tackler. His game is just as strong in pass coverage. Schooley has good recognition skills as he covers a deep half allowing him to always be in the right place at the right time. That range also allows him to bait QBs into bad pass attempts. He completes his well rounded game by having the hands to create turnovers as well as create disruption at the catch point to breakup passes. If you’re in Wisconsin searching for help in the defensive backfield then Jackson’s film needs to be one of your first viewings. Schooley’s Junior Season Highlights
Matthew Schecklman Matthew Schecklman 6'4" | 205 lbs | QB Appleton North | 2022 State WI , 2022 QB- Appleton North
Matthew is possibly the QB that I have watched the most on film over the past year. The 6’4″ 205 lbs prospect has a good collection of traits to offer a college program. Several have realized the same as Schecklman has received interest from several schools including Duluth, NDSU, and South Dakota. He has also been invited to compete at the Elite 11 Regionals on June 6th. When you dive into the film there is a lot to like as I mentioned at the start. Matthew has a strong arm that allows him to really drive the ball into tight windows that not many QBs at this level can hit. That includes down the seam, and out to the sideline from the opposite hash. His footwork is clean too. The feet are always connected to the eyes, and as he rolls out he can flip his hips to generate plenty of velocity on the ball. He plays tough too. He will stand tall in the pocket facing pressure and he will tuck it and run with power to pick up yards on the ground. Schecklman is an athlete to know for any schools looking for QB prospects. Angel Toombs Angel Toombs 6'5" | 230 lbs | TE Rufus King | 2022 State WI , 2022 TE/WR- Rufus King
Angel is one of the hundreds of Milwaukee area students that weren’t able to play this past fall or spring due to the pandemic. Angel isn’t letting that stop him from getting in front of coaches. He is scheduled to be in attendance at the Texas Tech, Wisconsin, Northern Illinois, and Illinois State camps this month. I have a feeling the 6’5″ 230 lbs WR/TE is going to catch a ton of eyes with his elite size. He has taken to his studies during his time off the field as he had a reported 4.3 GPA his junior year. Just going off the sophomore film, you can see the exceptional traits starting to shine through. The body control to be able to become an instant mismatch nightmare is evident, and he is a very willing blocker. I am so excited to see the feedback he gets at his camp tour. Offers shouldn’t be far behind. Angel’s Sophomore Season Highlights
Matt Wagner Matt Wagner 6'1" | 185 lbs | WR Kettle Moraine | 2022 State WI , 2022 WR- Kettle Moraine
One of Wisconsin’s top receivers is looking for his first offer. The Kettle Moraine stud WR has an impressive set of route running skills, speed, and concentration at the catch point. It’s hard to believe his junior film is his first season playing WR. He is just scratching the surface on what he can become. I guarantee you he has been grinding this offseason too. The 6’1″ 185 lbs prospect has a long list of camps coming up in the month of June. He is at the Lindenwood Camp today and tomorrow, Wisconsin on the 7th, Vanderbilt on the 18th, and Northwestern on the 24th. Matt has a lot of posted D1 interest that is well deserved. Can’t wait to hear about how his camps are going. Keep an eye out for him and check out his film too! Wagner’s Junior Season Highlights
Cam Wnek Cam Wnek 6'2" | 180 lbs | WR Kimberly | 2022 State WI , 2022 WR- Kimberly
Cam has had a great 2021. He started it off by having a very strong showing in the alternate Spring Season. He posted 20 receptions, 310 yards, and 6 TDs. His speed allowed him to become one of the best deep threats in the spring season. That impressive speed comes with an intriguing 6’2″ 185 lbs frame. The speed is there whether he is on the field or off as he recently posted the 7th fastest 300M hurdles time in Kimberly HS history with a 39.64 second time. I really like the subtle moves that Cam implements towards the top of his routes to give himself even more separation to add to what his speed already created. Check this kid out. He can definitely play at the next level. He competed at the Wisconsin camp yesterday. Keep an eye out for him the rest of the summer! Wnek’s Junior Season Highlights
