Today, we look at several wide receivers that just missed making the cut for the most recent rankings update. After looking at some more film, Prep Redzone has its eyes on several wide receivers for the next Class of 2022 rankings update.
Ben Romano Ben Romano 6'2" | WR Hun | 2022 NJ /6-2/193/Hun
Romano caught 9 passes for 195 yards (21.7 ypc) and two touchdowns in four games last season. He is a Tulane Wave baseball commit.
Chris Corbo Chris Corbo 6'3" | WR West Essex | 2022 State NJ /6-5/210/West Essex
Corbo caught 16 passes for 245 yards (15.3 ypc) and one touchdown in five games last season. He may not have the eye-opening statistics but it’s hard to ignore his size. Corbo may have a bigger upside at the tight end position at the next level. He has offers from Fordham and Dartmouth.
Ethan MacNair/6-0/210/Somerville
MacNair amassed over 500-plus total yards last season. He caught 31 passes for 425 yards (13.7 ypc) and three touchdowns in six games last season.
Jake Ciencin/6-1/175/Colonia
Ciencin caught 22 passes for 440 yards (20.0 ypc) and five touchdowns in eight games last season.
Jake Diaz Jake Diaz 5'9" | 170 lbs | WR Hasbrouck Heights | 2022 NJ /5-9/170/Hasbrouck Heights
In retrospect, we should have ranked Diaz during our previous update. He caught 23 passes for 547 yards and seven touchdowns in six games during the 2020 season. Diaz posted 100-plus receiving yards in three games. Diaz is a legitimate vertical threat who makes several big plays downfield on his highlights. He lines up on the outside but size-wise he’s best suited for the slot position.
James Haveron James Haveron 5'11" | 175 lbs | WR Verona | 2022 NJ /5-11/180/Verona
Haveron caught 28 passes for 405 yards (14.5 ypc) and three touchdowns in seven games last season. He also contributed on special teams as he amassed 343 total kickoff return yards too.
Jaylen Gundy Jaylen Gundy 5'10" | 160 lbs | WR Robbinsville | 2022 NJ /5-10/160/Robbinsville
Gundy caught 18 passes for 445 yards and four touchdowns in seven games last season. That’s a healthy 24.7.
Jaylen Sanchez Jaylen Sanchez 6'1" | 190 lbs | WR St. Peter's Prep | 2022 NJ /6-1/190/St. Peter’s Prep
Sanchez caught 21 passes for 292 yards (13.9 ypc) and three touchdowns in six games last season.
Logan Blake Logan Blake 6'6" | WR Delaware Valley | 2022 NJ /6-7/215/Delaware Valley
Blake caught 32 passes for 445 yards and eight touchdowns in seven games last season. He’s also a solid basketball player too. Judging from his social media, he’s getting a lot of attention on the basketball side. Maybe he can do both? Blake is a mismatch for defenders at either the wide receiver or tight end position. His highlights show that they used him at both positions. Blake’s long stride eats up the cushion of anyone who tries to cover him and he obviously has a height advantage over anyone who tries to cover him.
Jesus Aponte Jesus Aponte 5'9" | 150 lbs | WR Pompton Lakes | 2022 NJ /5-9/150/Pompton Lakes
Aponte caught 27 times for 452 yards and five touchdowns in eight games last season.
Nick Dunneman Nick Dunneman 5'10" | 165 lbs | WR Seton Hall Prep | 2022 NJ /5-10/165/Seton Hall Prep
Dunneman made the most out of the six games he played in last season. He caught 33 passes for 413 yards and five touchdowns during his junior year.
