Continue ReadingWe are back for our next segment in our Top 30 Seniors North of HWY10 Series! In our first series we covered athletes ranked from #30- #21. Today we are going to dive into players #20- #11. This next group of 10 is very trench beast heavy as we have five offensive linemen, and three defensive linemen joined by a QB, and a WR. Just like in the first segment I will also include a quick snapshot scouting report of the player and also include any offers they have reported on their twitter. Let’s get it started!
20. Gage Hall Gage Hall 6'4" | 300 lbs | OL Grantsburg | 2022 State WI , 6’4″ 285 lbs OL- Grantsburg
Coming in at #20 we have the 6’4″ 300 lbs, two-way, trench monster out of Grantsburg High School. The first thing that catches my eye when I watch his film is the aggressive play style. This kid is on a mission to toss every kid he faces to the ground, and he has the heavy hands and upper body strength to do so with ease. His twitter is full of his offseason grind showing deadlifts of 500 lbs, and hex bar deadlifts of 560 lbs. I’m excited to see that translate to more explosiveness in Gage’s senior season. He already plays light on his feet, and when on defense, has shown solid first step quickness. Going forward he will need to keep working on cleaning up his overall technique, but the traits are all there to work with. No offers yet for the big man, but I highly recommend checking out his junior film and keeping a close eye on his this fall. He’s gonna be manhandling defensive linemen all season long. Gage’s Junior Season
19. Sawyer Kohl Sawyer Kohl 6'3" | 275 lbs | OL New London | 2022 State WI , 6’3″ 275 lbs OL- New London
My 19th top senior of the north comes from Division 3 New London. The 6’3″ 275 lbs LT Kohl dwarfs the defensive linemen he faced in the fall of 2020, and his play style shows that he knows he has that advantage. Sawyer is looking to physically dominate his opponents when he takes the field. He is going to hit you, keep hitting you, and then put you into the ground. The on field strength comes from the same type of dominance in the weight room. He squats 475 lbs, and deadlifts 515 lbs. Sawyer has the athleticism to also pull, and get out in space and make blocks on the edge or even downfield. I’m looking forward to seeing how his pass protection develops this fall. Right now, I believe he would fit very well at guard, so he doesn’t have to deal with speed rushers around the edge. Instead, he can use his short area agility and impressive strength to win in pass pro. Check him out because he is going to be one of the 10 best senior OL in the north this fall. No offers reported, so make sure you haven’t overlooked him. Sawyer’s Junior Season
18. Jake Buckner, 6’2″ 260 lbs OL- Bay Port
Coming in at #18 we head to Bay Port High School. Their LT, Jake Buckner, is the next player up on this list. Jack have the elite length for the position, but his tenacity and road grading run blocking ability makes him an intriguing prospect for the next level. At the next level Buckner looks like a guard that will be able to use his stout frame to set a strong anchor in pass protection, and then bowl over defensive linemen in the run game with single and double team blocks. I also like the way Jake finishes his blocks to the ground. There’s no question he has the mentality needed in the trenches at the next level. The final part of his game I want to highlight is his lateral agility. Buckner consistently is able to slide to either pick up blocks or slide to maintain his blocks with ease, and we even get a glimpse or two of his range in his highlights. No reported offers for Jake. Make sure he is on your radar. Jake’s Junior Season
17. Kaden Kretlow Kaden Kretlow 6'3" | 230 lbs | DL D.C. Everest | 2022 State WI , 6’3″ 230 lbs DL- D.C. Everest
I have watched this next player’s film several times over the past few weeks. The DE has a solid combination of size and length for the position, and is able to spring out of his stance with effective burst. Kaden has a versatile game as well. He has proven he can set the edge against the run with his strength and athletic ability to pursue RBs on the edge in space. He has shown he has the play speed to cause a lot of disruption in the backfield if team’s don’t get a lineman on him right from the snap. I really want to see his pass rush moves continue to develop this fall, so that way he can be an even more dangerous pass rusher as he pairs those moves with the speed and burst he already possesses. No offers for the edge defender, yet. Kaden’s Junior Season
16. Will Schroeder Will Schroeder 6'1" | 270 lbs | OL Appleton North | 2022 State WI , 6’1″ 270 lbs OL- Appleton North
If you are looking for offensive linemen that are 6’5″ 300 lbs this might not be the player for you. If you are looking for interior offensive linemen that play with the nastiest mentality you could find, finishes their blocks through the echo of the whistle, and consistently reset the line of scrimmage 3-4 yards downfield in the run game then I got a center for you. Our #16 player is an absolute tone setter in the trenches out of Appleton North High School. On top of what I already listed, Will also plays with sharp technique. His hands are always quick to get inside on the chest plate of the defensive lineman and he never stops running his feet while run blocking. Will currently holds one roster offer from St. Norbert’s College. I can’t stress enough checking this kid out. Film is right here. Will’s Junior Season
15. Craig Ervin Craig Ervin 6'7" | 275 lbs | OL Altoona | 2022 State WI , 6’5’’ 275 lbs OL- Altoona
Next up we have the Altoona High School two way, big man. Craig checks in as one of the biggest prospects in the state of Wisconsin. His exceptional length comes with a frame that carries his current 275 lbs with ease. Ervin has so much room to add even more size and strength as his body continues to mature. With that maturity we are going to start to see his body control continue to increase making him an even more impactful blocker. While he plays both ways in high school I do believe his future is on the offensive line at the next level. His play this past season at guard showed off his range to get to the second level, his strength to drive defenders off the ball in one on one scenarios, and his length has made him a solid pass blocker that will only get more reliable as his body control continues to develop. The next level has noticed the talent as well as Craig holds offers from Winona State and Upper Iowa. Craig’s Junior Season
14. Sean Burant Sean Burant 6'4" | 230 lbs | DL Kimberly | 2022 State WI , 6’4″ 230 lbs DL- Kimberly
One of the best senior DL of northern Wisconsin comes in at #14 out of Kimberly HS. Sean had a great season as a DE in Kimberly’s three man front as they made their way to a 6-1 record. Burant’s ability to control the line of scrimmage, eat up blocks, and make plays on his own had a huge hand in the team’s success. His traits should not only be helping his team dominate. They should also be attracting a lot of attention from the next level. Burant is able to hold the line of scrimmage against some of the best offensive line units in the state. He utilizes that strength to not only eat up blocks and hold the line of scrimmage, but to also quickly disengage with blocks and make the tackle at or behind the line of scrimmage. His blend of agility and power are key to his ability to control the line laterally too. There is a lot of potential in Sean. I don’t see any offers, but that might be because it doesn’t look like he has hit up a ton of camps due to having dominant performances in track and field. Check him out. Sean’s Junior Season
13. Josh Witt Josh Witt 6'3" | 300 lbs | OL Ashwaubenon | 2022 State WI , 6’3″ 300 lb OL- Ashwaubenon
Coming in at #13 is our third best senior OL in the north. Josh is a man mover. When he gets on his tracks and starts plowing forward there isn’t a force that has shown they can stop him. There are highlights in his film where he almost completely leaves the frame as he blocks his kid 20+ yards down the field. The size and strength combination are one of the best in the state of Wisconsin. The power run game was made to be played behind offensive linemen like Witt. He changes the line of scrimmage and when he gets to double team opponents it’s unfair. His pass protection isn’t quite on par with his exceptional run blocking strength, but he has shown the ability to be able to kick slide and mirror pass rushers better than any other OL prospects on this list so far. Josh is currently recovering from a surgery, but should be back sometime in the fall. Make sure you check out his film, and keep up to date with when he comes back because it is going to be fun to watch when he returns. Witt currently holds an offer from Concordia- St. Paul. Josh’s Junior Season
12. Owen Pawlikowski Owen Pawlikowski 6'3" | 195 lbs | WR Kimberly | 2022 State WI , 6’3″ 195 lbs WR- Kimberly
This is one of my favorite players to watch in the state of Wisconsin. Owen has so much to offer the next level as a football player. Great size for the position. The ability to go up and get the ball thanks to his accomplished basketball background. Long speed to take it the distance. Inside and outside versatility. The hands to bring in the ball even in a crowd. He is also a solid route runner that uses very good head fakes to get DBs to bite before he burns them deep. Owen is a very savvy player with the athletic traits to capitalize on how he sets up defenders. He is going to be shooting up our rankings when they are updated starting later this month. Several programs are already after his talents. MNSU- Mankato, Bemidji State, and Duluth have all offered him as a WR, and he holds a few basketball offers as well. Not many WRs are as well rounded as Owen is in our Class of 2022. If you haven’t seen his film I highly recommend you do. Owen’s Junior Season
11. Matthew Schecklman Matthew Schecklman 6'4" | 205 lbs | QB Appleton North | 2022 State WI , 6’4″ 205 lbs QB- Appleton North
Our #1 senior QB in northern Wisconsin comes to us from Appleton North High School. Schecklman was expected to really see his stock take off this camp cycle after a very strong spring season and that is exactly what has happened. He started off winning the accuracy challenge out in LA at an Elite 11 regional event. Then he hit the camp circuit and eventually landed offers from MNSU- Mankato, Bemidji State, U of Mary, and Upper Iowa. Click play on the tape and you see why so many teams are already in hot pursuit of his abilities. He has prototypical size paired with the athleticism that can break a defenses back if they give him a lane. When he takes to the air his arm shows off the talent that has earned him the QB1 ranking in northern Wisconsin for me. He can slice up defenses at every level with passes that he can put on a spot with velocity or with touch. Matthew already has a really good understanding of what he needs to put on the ball to make it fit right where he wants it to. His footwork is very sharp as well. His feet and eyes are always in sync, and he can get the ball out of his hands in the blink of an eye. Big fan of this kid. So are a lot of teams at the next level. Matthew’s Junior Season
