Due to the physicality of the sport, most of the time those performances are put together by members of the senior class. However, Wisconsin is home to several talented members of the 2022, ’23, and ’24 graduating classes. That talented shows up on tape and led to several eye opening stat lines. Today, I want to dive into those athletes as we highlight the Top Returning Offensive Stat Monsters. We will take a look at three of the most productive passers, rushers, and receivers that we will see return to Wisconsin high school football fields this fall!
Quarterbacks
Robby Michael Robby Michael 5'11" | 170 lbs | ATH Sheboygan Lutheran | 2022 State WI , 2022 QB/ATH- Kohler: 2,309 Passing Yds, 31 TDs
Robby will enter the fall 2021 season as the most productive returning passer in the state. He finished the fall 2020 season with the third most passing yards overall, second most passing TDs, and the most passing yards per game average with over 300 yards per game. That prolific performance helped lead Kohler to a 6-2 record. Robby combines that prolific passing production with the athleticism that makes him an intriguing DB prospect for the next level. A big year is in store for Robby!
Drew Mears, 2022 QB- Fox Valley Lutheran: 2,145 Passing Yds, 25 TDs
Drew enters the fall as the second most productive returning passer. Of all the returning QBs from 2020, Drew has the second most passing yards to go along with his 25 TD passes in 9 games. It is going to be interesting to see how Drew performs this fall as his top four receivers all graduated this June. He will carry a huge workload as FVL looks to improve on their record from last fall. The 6’ 180 lbs QB has the talent to handle the load. He has proven he can carve up defense at every level of the field with accuracy and anticipation.
Maddux Allen Maddux Allen 5'11" | 180 lbs | QB Cumberland | 2022 State WI , 2022 QB- Cumberland: 1,969 Passing Yds, 25 TDs
Possibly the most impressive performance returning from last fall is Maddux’s. He set the state record for fewest INTs with a minimum of 175 attempts with 1 INT. Maddux will also be looking to continue leading Cumberland towards another dominant season. They are coming off a dominant 9-0 season where they posted 43+ PPG. I can’t wait to see how Allen performs this season after losing his WR1 Jack Martens Jack Martens 5'11" | 185 lbs | WR Cumberland | 2021 State WI . I’m confident that Maddux will be able to spread the ball around to his returning weapons and lead Cumberland deep into the playoffs.
Ball Carriers
Brycen Cashin Brycen Cashin 5'10" | 190 lbs | RB Pacelli | 2022 State WI , 2022 RB- Pacelli: 1,417 Rushing Yds, 18 TDs
The #1 returning rusher from last fall is Brycen Cashin Brycen Cashin 5'10" | 190 lbs | RB Pacelli | 2022 State WI out of Pacelli. He finished last season with the third most rushing yards between the fall and spring seasons, sixth in rushing TDs, and the third highest yards per game average with 202.4 yards per game. The incoming senior does a great job of seeing how his blocks are setting up and is able to generate consistent yards after contact. I expect a very productive season for Brycen after posting those impressive numbers in just seven games last fall.
Simon Bauer Simon Bauer RB Durand | 2022 WI , 2022 RB- Durand: 1,375 Rushing Yds, 19 TDs
Hard to beat the season Simon is coming off of. He had the second most rushing yards of any returning ball carrier, and the second most rushing TDs of any returning ball carrier. The 5’8″ 160 lbs RB is going to continue to be the playmaker that moves the offense up and down the field as Durand looks to build on their 5-3 record from last fall and make a deep run in the Division 6 Playoffs.
Parker Prahl Parker Prahl 6'4" | 180 lbs | ATH Iola- Scandinavia | 2022 State WI , 2022 QB/ATH– Iola- Scandinavia: 1,283 Rushing Yds, 21 TDs
One of Wisconsin’s most productive overall athletes comes to us out of Iola- Scandinavia. Not only is Parker an impressive ball carrier, he is also an accomplished basketball player. On the gridiron, of all the returning ball carriers only three players posted more rushing yards than him in 2020. Those three players are all RBs, while Parker lines up at QB. Parker is going to be a major key to the offense’s success as they lose their RB1 to graduation. You can expect a very productive year from Prahl as Iola- Scandinavia looks to match or beat their 8-1 record from last season.
Pass Catchers
Colin Girdaukas Colin Girdaukas 6'1" | 190 lbs | WR Sheboygan Lutheran | 2022 State WI , 2022 WR- Kohler: 58 Receptions, 1,495 Receiving Yds, 18 TDs
Colin’s game by game and overall season stats are unmatched by any other player in the state. He set the single game record for receiving yards on just seven catches. He led the state in receiving yards, TDs, and yards per game with 186. He and his QB, Robby Michael Robby Michael 5'11" | 170 lbs | ATH Sheboygan Lutheran | 2022 State WI , came together to form the most deadly passing duo of the 2020 season. Expect them to be leading the race for that title again this fall. The talent matches the production for Colin as well. His tape shows solid traits and his athletic testing at camps and showcases proves he has what it takes to play at the next level.
Elliott Lowney Elliott Lowney 5'11" | 160 lbs | WR Shawano Community | 2022 State WI , 2022 WR- Shawano: 54 Receptions, 1,017 Receiving Yds, 10 TDs
Check out how big of a chunk of the passing offense went through him! He had 65% of his team’s total passing yards, 71% of his team’s receiving TDs, and hauled in 55% of the total receptions that Shawano had as a team. That huge workload turned into a stat line that was enough for Elliott to have the second most receptions, and second most yards of any returning receiver in the state. If you want to watch a receiver have a big impact on a team’s success then check out Elliott!
Sam Peiffer Sam Peiffer 6'1" | 180 lbs | WR Cedar Grove- Belgium | 2022 State WI , 2022 WR- Cedar Grove- Belgium: 33 Receptions, 623 Receiving Yds, 15 TDs
Peiffer is another WR who not only had a strong season, he was responsible for a massive chunk of his team’s passing success. He had 33 of his QB’s 58 completions, 15 of his QBs 19 TD passes, and 55% of his QB’s passing yards. The 15 TDs are the the second most overall from last year, and he did it all without playing WR the whole season. He had to step up for his team and spend time filling in at QB where he continued his productivity. Sam is one of the more talented receivers in the state. The production matches the film. He is a kid to have on your recruiting boards.
