From Tallahassee to Gainesville, Boca Raton, Miami, Orlando and Tampa, where Shannon Jordan and I saw 24 schools and over 1,000 prospects in a 7-on-7 tournament as well as talking with a number of high school coaches.
In addition to the 7-on-7 event, we also spent time watching 835 players in one day, talking to players, parents, coaches and fans, who were amazed with the coverage we have provided since last August – without fanfare or accolades, we have produced more content than any high school website in Florida – by a long shot – while opening up a social media forum that Prep Redzone has not had in the past on the gridiron.
Our trip to Tampa also provided the opportunity to see so many prospects, which we have posted – and will continue to promote and expose during the course of the summer and into the 2021 season.
Today, from the USF camp, we have five Class of 2023 prospects who are certainly on the rise:
2023 – Kendrick Raphael Kendrick Raphael 5'11" | 180 lbs | RB Naples | 2023 State FL , RB, 5-11, 185, Naples. Already having a reputation as a youth standout, here is a quality back who can do it all. Has a burst out of the backfield and has the size, durability and talent to continue making major progress. Is one of the impressive athletes who will have a banner 2021 season. AT THE CAMP: He showed his quickness and ability to catch the ball out of the backfield.

Jayden Sheppard Jayden Sheppard 6'2" | 180 lbs | DB Niceville | 2023 FL , WR/CB, 6-2, 180, Niceville. This versatile panhandle talent can do it all on both sides of the ball, combining size, athletic ability and a knack of coming up with the big play. Could be a major college defensive back because of his skill and tremendous wingspan. Gets to balls that others may not have the chance to get to. AT THE CAMP: His versatility and ability to catch the ball as a receiver – and defend in the secondary is impressive.

Ranod Smith Ranod Smith 5'10" | 165 lbs | WR Fort Myers | 2023 FL , WR/CB, 5-10, 175, Fort Myers. Coach Sammy Sirianni and the Green Wave have something very special in this versatile football talent who brings plenty to the table on both sides of the ball. The end result from this emerging player is he still has a long way to go – and will continue to mature into one of Florida’s best. AT THE CAMP: His quickness and athleticism had the college coaches watching everything he did.

Brice Stevenson, DL, 6-2, 270, Tampa Berkeley Prep. As he showed last year during his sophomore season, this is one of those elite football players who has a gift of making plays. Quick off the ball, strong and is maturing quicker than many expected. By this time next year, he will be a name that everyone will know – and as he gets more reps and attends camps and events that will help improve his game. AT THE CAMP: That first step overwhelms offensive lineman – as does his skill level, using his hands to control the offensive front.

Cam Upshaw Jr., FS/WR, 6-3, 180, Perry Taylor County. Right now, this impressive two-way standout may not be on everyone’s list, but that is changing this summer as he gets the chance to make college visits to showcase his skills in front of decision makers. This standout is yet another who is well coached, works on his craft year-round and can play multiple positions. Keep an eye on this quality talent. He will be one of those elite prospects that will be on several lists. AT THE CAMP: Technically, he blows you away with his knowledge of the game – and when you add his physical presence – you can see why he wins drills and matchups.
