Continue ReadingDebuting this week will be a column where I take a look at the latest happenings in the high school football world form around the state of Alabama and summarize them into a “thoughts session” of sorts. The dog days of summer are upon us and the goal is for this to help keep all parties involved as Friday night football inches closer and closer. Without further ado, here we go:
- Camp season is back alive and well. Thank God for that! Over the weekend social media was flooder with pictures and videos of prospects involved in camps all across the southeast. This worked to help make recruiting feel more normal again and with the dead period now lifted expect for more of the same.
- In a bit of a shocking move, Lucas Taylor Lucas Taylor 6'5" | 310 lbs | OL St. Paul's Episcopal | 2022 State AL of St. Paul’s Episcopal flipped his commitment from LSU to SEC foe Mississippi State. Truth be told, Taylor feels like a great guard prospect fit for Mike Leach and Company in Starkville.
- With Jeremiah Alexander Jeremiah Alexander 6'3" | 240 lbs | LB Thompson | 2022 State AL , Conner Harrell Conner Harrell 6'1" | 190 lbs | QB Thompson | 2022 State AL , and Jaylen Ward Jaylen Ward 6'2" | 190 lbs | WR Thompson | 2022 State AL all under the lights at Thompson as well as a dynamic 2023 class, The Warriors are going to be must see entertainment this fall. Coaches from all over the southeast will flock there this fall.
- All eyes will be on Hoover QB Bennett Meredith Bennett Meredith 6'2" | 175 lbs | QB Hoover | 2022 State AL as he prepares to take the reigns at QB. The talent rich history of Hoover is always a story but Meredith seems poised for big things there. Group of 5 offers are present, but I wouldn’t rule out the signal caller getting Power 5 looks over the fall.
- Who’s next: Be on the lookout recruiting wise for Braden Turner Braden Turner 5'11" | 175 lbs | DB McGill Toolen | 2022 State AL of McGill-Toolen. The 2022 prospect oozes athleticism and has really seen interest turn his way over the last few weeks. Turner holds Power 5 offers from Kentucky, Wake Forest and Colorado, but if feels like many more may be right on the horizon.
Check back in next week to get the word on the latest happenings in Alabama High School football.
