With north of 100 players in attendance, there were a lot of players to scout, evaluate, and talk to, here are the first five of our top performers in no order
2022 Louisa County Defensive End Qwenton Spellman Qwenton Spellman 6'2" | 290 lbs | DL Louisa County | 2023 State VA
Spellman, at 6’3″ and 270lbs already has his first FBS offer from Old Dominion but camp to the William and Mary camp hoping to learn and gather more offers. Spellman, a first-team all-district selection is big, physical, has good moves. Spellman is a rising junior so there is room to improve as he ran a 5.78 40-yard dash but Spellman has the size and moves to be a quality defensive lineman.
2023 Smithfield Offensive Lineman Justin Goodin
Goodin has good size for a rising junior at 6’3″ and 265lbs. With a shortened season at Smithfield and multiple COVID interruptions, Goodin didn’t get a chance to accurately display what he can do last season, so this coming fall will be huge for his recruiting and his development. Goodin ran a 5.1 40-yard dash which, for a OL isn’t too far off from what you would want. Goodin has no offers yet, but with more camps like this, he should see his first come in soon
2023 Varina Wide Receiver Kaveion Keys
Keys, a 6’3″ rising junior is looking to gain his first offer and if he competes like he did at this camp, he will see it soon. Keys ran a 4.65 40-yard dash on his first try and had an 8’9″ broad jump on his second try. In 1-on-1s, Keys showed strong hands and good moves. Keys could be a great addition for an FBS or FCS squad but they will want to get in on his soon before a full fall season.
2023 Christchurch Quarterback Charles Hatcher
Hatcher is one of two QBs coach Ed Homer plans to use in his 30th year at Christchurch and really impressed me with a good arm, and good touch on the balls he threw. Hatcher approached multiple coaches after the session was over, with most of them coming away impressed from the young signal-caller. Hatcher has no offers yet but they could be coming soon. With a tall, thin frame at 6’1″ and only 197lbs he has a little room to grow still.
2023 King’s Fork ATH Kaletri Boyd
Boyd ran a 4.6 40-yard dash but is only 5’5″ which could be a deal-breaker for a lot of schools but other than that, Boyd is a solid recruit and can play all over the field. Boyd completely burnt a DB in 1-on-1 drills which was fun to see as he can do great things with the ball in his hands. William and Mary would be a good landing spot for Boyd.
