Aiden Brink Aiden Brink OL SF Washington | 2022 State | Offensive Line | Sioux Falls Washington (SD) | 2022
I have gotten my clicks of film watching Aiden Brink Aiden Brink OL SF Washington | 2022 State over the past few months, but it was even better to watch this young man in person in Sioux Falls last Monday. I found out early how flexible Aiden was with his lower body early at Augustana. As I have seen on tape, Aiden showed a solid pad level just about every rep I saw him go after, and he is a hog moly prospect that has an excellent get-off the line, which makes him one of the top physical offensive linemen in the Dakotas.
Aiden shows strong, active hands in the game film I was able to watch from last year. Aiden has those finisher-type capabilities that dog piles on top of the defender to assure he doesn’t get any more run on that given play. His ability to multi engage with run blocks on short-yardage situations make him even more marketable, and to add to that; he is one of those prospects that it’s difficult to scout on whether I like him more as a run blocker or a pass blocker, as his film shows excellent consistency on both fronts. Brink has been a hot commodity as far as offers in the Northern Sun, but the grapevine tells me he could have some FCS suitors, too, although I think he would be one heck of talent in the Northern Sun that would get a lot of PT over his college career.
Grayson Hanson Grayson Hanson LB Platte-Geddes | 2022 State | Linebacker | Platte-Geddes (SD) | 2022
Hanson was another Dakotas prospect that I have learned about quickly since his squad from Platte-Geddes won the state championship this year. At that time, I didn’t have the film to watch, but once I got it, he became a top 55 prospect in our latest Class of 2022 rankings. Hanson was extremely consistent in his pro agility numbers, and although I would have loved to see more from him with his vertical, he turned in a solid outing at the Augie prospect camp.
Grayson is very much a multidimensional prospect that I see as a better projection at linebacker. Offensively, he does good work at using his cuts to drag the air out of the defender, thinking he’s going one way and then shifts to another. He also is a prospect you can put out in front, and he will pay dividends upfront as a lead blocker. Defensively, he shows a solid level of physicality and a good contact level. I really liked his tape against Viborg-Hurley last season, where he was aggressive in the outside rushing lanes attacking the ball before they got to the first level.
Griffin Wilde Griffin Wilde 6'2" | 175 lbs | WR Sioux Falls Jefferson | 2023 State | Wide Receiver | Sioux Falls Jefferson (SD) | 2023
Fresh off getting one of the earliest Division I offers in the Dakotas since we launched the site just under a year ago, Griffin showed off very early at Augustana why that was the case when I watched him run in the pro agility where he posted a low 4.2 and a high 4.1 in the testing sessions.
When I watched Wilde’s game film from Sioux Falls Roosevelt last season, I saw a prospect who can already run a solid mix of routes, long or short, and he showed to have a solid catch radius across the board. I really like how fluid he turns on his routes are as he can create separation without digging his feet heavily, which would slow him down–he has really soft feet for how explosive he is. Leaping for the football is no problem for this kid, as he jumped out of the gym up to 38 inches on his vertical jump at the Augie prospect camp. This young man might have already gotten his dream offer, but do not be surprised to see other D1s or high-level D2s get in the mix over the next 6 months or so. Another perk for Griffin? He may have changed schools, but he will get the same QB experience at Sioux Falls Jefferson as top 2023 prospect Taylen Ashley Taylen Ashley 6'0" | 175 lbs | QB Sioux Falls Jefferson | 2023 State is joining him as a Cavalier.
Garret Hoffman Garret Hoffman 5'10" | 165 lbs | DB SF Washington | 2022 State | Defensive Back | Sioux Falls Washington (SD) | 2023
Garret was a prospect that drew my eye in 1on1s the Augie Prospect Camp. He showed excellent flexibility and positioning on one of the pass breakups I watched. Although an undersized DB prospect, he showed that he has a skill set that is next-level material.
Garret’s footwork is what stood out to me most when watching his game film from last season, as his backpedal is certainly eye-catching. His positioning lines up very well based on what he can read against the receiving core, as he’s good at projecting at what kind of WR he is going up against. He shows solid awareness as he is a defensive back that can crash deep into the first level but is also physical against his wideout despite his frame. Garret makes solid reads on the football and is one that has held his own against weaker wideouts. Garret has no offers yet but is a borderline D2 or D3 prospect. Garret is a newcomer on our Class of 2022 rankings from the most recent update.
David Geebli David Geebli 5'9" | 185 lbs | RB Coon Rapids | 2022 State MN | Running Back | Coon Rapids (MN) | 2022
David certainly was the best running back I got my eyes on at the Augie Prospect Camp. He showed a lot of fluidity in his footwork, and I got to witness in person a juicy spin move right in front of my eyes. He also tested in the high 4.7s to low 4.8s range on both reps in the 40-yard dash. He also tested well in the first rep of the pro-agility, logging a 4.36 in his first rep.
David is a two-way player for the Cardinals and, at tailback, is a promising pass-catcher out of the backfield. He shows good finesse between the tackles and has a solid burst to get upfield quickly. The one development he can grow on this summer is developing a strong lower body, as he runs well while in pursuit but could develop more leg strength to get some extra yards after contact. As a linebacker, David comes in undersized but shows good engagement on the first level and makes quality contact with bigger tailbacks. David would be a solid utility back at the college level. He is flying under the radar right now, but being named team captain and a solid senior season, this young man will get some opportunities to play at the next level.
Max Thomson Max Thomson 6'3" | 215 lbs | QB SF Washington | 2022 State | Quarterback | Sioux Falls Washington (SD) | 2022
Watching Max throw the ball was great to see live as our #2 QB in the Class of 2022 showed solid ball mechanics, and I thought had some really consistent accuracy at the Augie Prospect Camp last Monday.
Max’s game film shows a young man that is focused and dialed in when he is inside the pocket. He certainly has a solid pocket presence and makes solid touch with the football wherever he goes with it, especially with his throws from 10-15 yards. Max is a high football IQ kid that locks in on making the best throw out there vs. stretching his luck with a riskier throw. He won’t blow you away with speed or on the run, but with the poise he excels with inside the pocket, he’s certainly a scholarship-level prospect in my and our National Scouting Director’s eyes. Not to mention he’s one of the more well-put-together QBs in the Dakotas at 6’3, 220 pounds. Max also carries a 3.5 GPA.
Luke Gintz Luke Gintz 6'2" | 315 lbs | OL Elk River | 2022 State MN | Offensive Line | Elk River (MN) | 2022
Luke was the only prospect at the Augie Prospect Camp that I watched in a live game setting last season when the Elks played against Rogers. Luke was also a member of my All-Sherburne County Team. He showed a great stance and solid punching ability from the reps I got to watch in 1on1 drills late at the Augie prospect camp.
Luke does a solid job of moving the pile in the trenches for the Elks as he gets a big push forward in a very run-heavy offense like Elk River. I would like in his senior season to develop more on his pad level as he gets up a little higher than I like when I watch my hog mollies. Although he shows that in clips, you can tell he’s been working on it based on what we saw last Monday in Sioux Falls. Luke plays like a fearless competitor at Center, and there is no doubt in my mind he would be a solid player at the Division II level. His ability to push the pile forward sells that in my eyes as he moves better in an actual game than in a 40 time, etc.
