A lot of great plays were made, and they concluded the event with a “King of the Court” type of game with each team. Here are some athletes that stood out in the 7v7 exhibition.
RB/DB Kyson Jackson Kyson Jackson 5'9" | 150 lbs | ATH McCluer | 2022 MO McCluer c/o 22.
The coaches spoke highly of Jackson. They stated that it was his first time playing corner, and he deserves praise from the way he performed on defense. Jackson caught a few interceptions and made a couple pass breakups in the 7v7 event. The young athlete is not only a great running back, but a natural born ballhawk on defense. He’s fast and has great footwork as a DB. It’s going to be exciting to see what he does in the fall.
WR Gavin Bomstad Gavin Bomstad 6'0" | 170 lbs | WR De Smet | 2022 State MO De Smet c/o 22.
This kid was everywhere on the field. Every defense was trying to find answers on how to stop Bomstad from scoring, but they couldn’t figure it out. He’s fast and finds numerous ways on how to get open. Bomstad has great concentration on the ball and he never dropped a pass when he was on the field. He caught 4 touchdowns during the 7v7. This will be one of the receivers to watch this season.
WR Kyle Taylor Kyle Taylor WR Hazelwood Central | 2023 MO Hazelwood Central c/o 23
Taylor transferred over from Lutheran St. Charles to join the Hawkshow. And he played at a high level, catching bombs from Senior QB Bryson Brown Bryson Brown 6'4" | 170 lbs | QB Hazelwood Central | 2022 MO . The defense had a hard time defending Taylor. He’s very fast and elusive. He has great hands, and he is not afraid to catch in traffic. Although Taylor is a transfer, he acts like he’s been playing with the Central team since he was a freshman. He fits right in with the Hawks’ dominating offense.
DB Russell Malone Russell Malone 6'1" | 185 lbs | DB Ladue | 2022 MO Ladue c/o 22
Malone was holding it down for the Rams’ defense. He showed great ball skills during the 7v7 and read the quarterback’s eyes fairly well during plays. Malone is very smart when it comes to reading routes and isn’t afraid to make a play on the ball. He also had a few interceptions during the “King of the Field” event at the 7v7 exhibition. Malone will be one safety that college scouts must keep an eye on.
DB AJ Byerley De Smet c/o 25
This young DB plays as if he’s no stranger to the game. Byerley is a talented athlete that knows how to use his height to his advantage. He has great hands as a defensive back and does a great job tracking the ball. This is a defensive player college scouts should look at for the next three years of this kid’s career.

There’s no debate that this kid is a straight up athlete. He proves it every time he steps on the field. Davis was a deep threat to every defense at the 7v7 event. He also made some great catches in the endzone. Davis had great concentration and was able to bring in a plethora of catches that led to a few touchdowns. Davis will have a breakout season this year along with Senior star receiver Armani Turner Armani Turner 5'8" | 160 lbs | WR Hazelwood Central | 2022 State MO .
