Many of these athletes chose schools close to home while others opted to leave the Midwest. Here is the look at some late spring and early summer commits and their schools of choice.
Mani Powell 6’2” 225 LB Canton McKinley Verbal: Arkansas
The Razorbacks landed a very talented inside linebacker in Mani Powell. He rules between the tackles and attacks the football downhill. He keeps excellent tempo on the ball carrier and keeps inside-out leverage to prevent the cutback run while displaying the athleticism to flow to the outside if the football breaks to the perimeter. Powell drives his legs on contact to bring down the runner and finish the play.
Maurice Hamilton Maurice Hamilton 6'4" | 340 lbs | OL Cleveland Heights | 2022 State OH 6’4” 340 OL Cleveland Heights Verbal: West Virginia
Hamilton is a wide-bodied offensive lineman with exceptional strength. He is versatile to play either guard or tackle for the Mountaineers. Hamilton is a very agile big man with quick feet as demonstrated by his ability to pull and lead on power plays. He is most impressive when base blocking on inside run plays where he dominates defensive linemen across from him. Hamilton has a powerful first strike and hip snap, immediately getting movement at the point of attack.
Charlie Kenrich Charlie Kenrich 6'3" | 225 lbs | TE Lakota East | 2022 State OH 6’3” 225 TE Lakota East Verbal: Purdue
Even though he is being recruited on the offensive side of the football, tenacious and tough are the best words to describe how this guy plays the game. He can align out wide, in tight, or as an H-back with equal effectiveness. It’s the defensive player that gets punished when trying to bring Kenrich down after the reception. Kenrich has soft hands as a receiver and isn’t afraid to catch the ball in a crowd. He is also a devastating blocker for his teammates.
Adam Trick Adam Trick 6'4" | 220 lbs | LB Wayne | 2022 State OH 6’4” 220 LB Huber Heights Wayne Verbal: Miami of Ohio
Trick is one of the most athletic outside linebackers in the state that is talented enough to play defensive end. He is an exceptional outside pass rusher coming off the edge and is both fast and determined to get to the quarterback. Trick is tall and rangy and engulfs the opponent when making a tackle. He also is an instinctive coverage linebacker with fluid movement and superb ball skills. Look for Trick also to be used as a special teams’ player as a punt blocker.
Isaiah Jones Isaiah Jones 6'2" | 220 lbs | LB London | 2022 State OH 6”2” 220 LB London Verbal: Indiana
Jones looks like a free-wheeling safety the way he covers the field. He can roam sideline to sideline while keeping leverage on the ball. A physical player, Jones can consistently stop perimeter plays or inside runs with punishing tackles. He does an excellent job of taking on blocks then shedding and disengaging to the football.
Terence Thomas 5’10” 185 ATH Youngstown Boardman Verbal: Purdue
All he does is make big plays whenever he is on the field and at any position. Thomas has all the tools including speed, agility, quickness, and exceptional overall athleticism. He is a threat to bring back every kickoff the distance due to his speed, ability to read blocks on the run, and elusiveness in space. As a wildcat quarterback, he runs the sweep as good as anybody; the same when playing running back. He is an instinctive cover corner who also can make plays in the openfield. Thomas is also a sure-handed wide receiver. The Boilermakers have a lot of options with Thomas.
Tommy Bebie Tommy Bebie 6'1" | 195 lbs | LB Rocky River | 2022 State OH 6’1” 195 LB Rocky River Verbal: Wake Forest
Few linebackers read the play from the inside linebacker position better than Bebie. He is an instant reactor who can flip his hips and change direction without losing tempo on the football. As a pass defender, Bebie is fluid in covering the hook to curl zones and is sure handed in making interceptions. Quicker than fast, Bebie doubles as a running back on offense where he shows the same toughness and play making ability as he does on defense.
