There were some great players at the event. Here were some of the offensive players that stood out to me throughout the day.
Here is a link to my breakdown of the top defensive performances of the tournament.
Disclaimer: I did not get a chance to watch every team at the tournament play.
As noted earlier, Centennial of Corona won the tournament and the player that stood out to me the most on offense was junior quarterback Carson Conklin Carson Conklin 6'1" | 180 lbs | QB Centennial - Corona | 2023 State CA . Conklin transferred to Centennial last season from Orange Lutheran and led the Huskies in touchdown passes. He throws a nice deep ball, went through all of his reads well and has a clear command of the huddle.
Sweet stroke. @Carson_Conklin is a power 5 guy. His Wr @_longevityk is a dog too. pic.twitter.com/fOl6QqcKjy

Junior quarterback Izzy Carter Izzy Carter 6'1" | 180 lbs | QB Centennial - Corona | 2023 State CA looked good in spots as well but his game isn’t as suited for 7-on-7 as Conklin’s is. He will be a big factor for Centennial when the pads come on and real football starts.
Eric Denham Eric Denham 6'0" | 195 lbs | ATH St. John Bosco | 2023 State CA looked really good at receiver which isn’t surprising since he was the team’s leading receiver last season. He runs good routes and has speed when he gets into the open field. Demarieon Young and Kai Lauderdale also made plays at receiver. Lauderdale got a little playing time this spring and coach Matt Logan had a lot of positive things to say about him.
San Juan Hills finished second in the tournament and it was largely due to its three stellar receivers. Braden Pegan Braden Pegan 6'4" | 200 lbs | WR San Juan Hills | 2022 State CA , who recently committed to UCLA sticks out when you watch San Juan Hills. He has added some size, he is tall, fast and physical. Other coaches were watching and talking about how impressive he is.
Cole Monach Cole Monach 6'1" | 185 lbs | WR San Juan Hills | 2022 CA and new Arizona transfer Elijah Barclay Elijah Barclay 6'2" | 175 lbs | WR Salpointe Catholic | 2022 CA also looked good. They both could be number one receivers for many programs in Southern California. With Pegan drawing the other team’s top corners, Monach and Barclay can take advantage of weaker defensive backs and put up big numbers this season.
Coming in hot!!! Now the score is 24-0 Lancers (@SCLancerNation) over Mountain Ridge after another Treyson Bourguet (@treysonbourguet) TD pass to Elijah Barclay (@elijah_barc) this one for 49 yards. pic.twitter.com/xOV0dTsNTG

Trey Kukuk looked good at quarterback again for Capo Valley. He threw really nice deep balls against Cypress and throws hard over the middle on the crossing routes. Offensive coordinator Dan Selway trusts him to make tough reads and take chances against good defenses.
Dane Benedix Dane Benedix 6'0" | 170 lbs | ATH Capistrano Valley | 2023 State CA and Owen Taylor are excellent receivers who win jump balls, beat safeties in man coverage and can get separation. Mark Hopkins came in and played receiver and looked good coming off an injury. Capo is loaded with two-way guys at receiver and defensive back which is good because they can rest one or two of them if needed during real games.
Nick Fernandez of San Pedro stood out because of how quickly he moves for his size. He is 6-foot-4, 270 pounds and plays tight end. He has hands and will be hard to bring down when real games start.
San Pedro receiver Robert Sarmiento also made an impression on all the other coaches at the tournament. He high points the ball and makes catches in traffic.

San Clemente quarterback Lachlan van Rosmalen looked better than he did in the short spring season. He appeared to be more confident in the offense and had better timing with his receivers, even though a lot of the receivers were young guys who didn’t play last season. The Tritons may have to rely on him more than they did last spring.

Cypress quarterback Dylan Eldredge was one of the more impressive quarterbacks of the day. He was accurate on deep balls, short passes and made the right decisions more often than not. He is an under-recruited guy who can play at the college level.
The two receivers who shined the most for Cypress were Trevor Monteleone Trevor Monteleone 6'1" | 190 lbs | ATH Cypress | 2023 CA and Matthew Morrell Matthew Morrell 6'4" | 195 lbs | WR Cypress | 2023 State CA . Morrell transferred last season from Orange Lutheran and immediately broke the school’s single-game receiving yards record. He is big, fast, can jump and do it all on the football field. He also could be a draft prospect in baseball.
One of the best two-sport athletes. Cypress. Junior Matthew Morrell. Fastball in the 90s. Top receiver. pic.twitter.com/5aQ7RxHe2K

Monteleone isn’t as fast as Morrell but he runs good routes and can bring down any ball remotely in his area. He also can absorb contact and hold onto the ball. Cypress’ passing attack is going to be one of the best in the county this fall.
