Overview (Class A Preseason Ranking: #8)
It was another ten win season for the Morrison Wildcats in 2020. They would make it all the way to the quarterfinals before losing out to Ringling in a close one. Class A was dominated by Cashion and Pawhuska a year ago but Morrison was very clearly in the mix throughout the season and that will be the same coming into this season. The Wildcats opened their 2020 season in a blowout loss to Oklahoma Christian. They would rattle off several wins in a row before losing their only district game in a close one to Woodland. The other big game on the district schedule was against Pawnee but it was cancelled due to Covid. The Wildcats return this season with the majority of their starters coming back. The district will still be tough as both Woodland and Pawnee are once again ranked, making this arguably the toughest district in Class A. However, with the Wildcats bringing back seven starters on offense and another seven starters on defense, they’ll be in good shape. They certainly will be one of the better offenses in Class A with their quarterback and running back both returning this fall. The running back Tyler Voss has the chance to be one of the best in Class A this fall, but we’ll dive into why a little bit more in the “Players To Watch” feature below. The Wildcats appear ready to return to contending for state championships this fall.

Players To Watch
Jared Harmon – 2022 Quarterback
With the Wildcats bringing back the majority of their starters on offense, the Wildcats could end up being one of the better units on that side of the ball. Triggering it will be senior quarterback Jared Harmon as he returns as QB1 for Morrison. Harmon will have one of the best running backs in Class A in the backfield with him, which will certainly lessen the load for him in the passing game. It will also open some things up as opponents start to key in on trying to stop the Wildcat running attack, Harmon will be able to beat teams with the pass.
Tyler Voss – 2022 Running Back
We mentioned senior running back Tyler Voss returning and potentially being the best running back in Class A this season. The Morrison standout ran for nearly 2,000 yards last season as a junior and over 30 touchdowns. The combination of Voss and Harmon in the Morrison backfield will certainly be one of the better and more experienced QB/RB duos in Class A. Because of that, if the Wildcats get into a shootout or two, like we saw them do last year, they’ll be well equipped to come out with the win.
More Names
Harley Goldman – 2022 Offensive/Defensive Lineman
Rocky Woods – 2022 Wide Receiver
Notable
It seems like we’ve had a nice run of teams with lengthy winning streaks here in the last five years. Wagoner set the state’s all time 11-man record with 48 straight wins just a few seasons ago. Bixby has a chance to break that record this season as they have 36 straight victories coming into 2021. Both of those winning streaks are light work when you go back to the late 80’s and early 90’s and see what Morrison was able to do. The Wildcats won seven consecutive state championships and accumulated a state-record 90 consecutive victories. This was done in 8-man ball so that’s why the Wagoner record has the 11-man distinction. Shattuck would break Morrison’s record during the 2000’s as they had a streak that ended with 93 straight victories. Morrison is one of the all time programs in Oklahoma with 14 state championships in school history. However, the Wildcats have been hungry to get back to the mountain top as they haven’t captured gold since winning it all back in 2008.
2021 Schedule/Games To Watch
Sept. 3 – Oklahoma Christian School
– This will be one of the top games of week one featuring some of the smaller schools in the state. Oklahoma Christian School is ranked #7 in our Class 2A preseason rankings and will give the Wildcats a big test coming right out of the gates. This will also be their only home game in September. OCS has one of the more dynamic athletes in the state, regardless of class in

. Morrison will need to limit what he’s able to do and try to take him out of the game if they’re going to be successful. A win here will give the Wildcats a ton of momentum going into the rest of the month.
Sept. 10 – AT Kiefer
Sept. 17 – AT Haskell
Sept. 24 – AT Tonkawa
Oct. 1 – AT Chelsea
Oct. 8 – Woodland
– This one is going to be a big game for a few reasons. One, it’s just going to be nice for the Wildcats to not have to get on a bus. After hosting OCS in week one, they have to go on the road for four straight weeks and will go over a month without playing at home. Throw in the fact that this game could end up deciding the district champion, it’s going to mean a little more than some of the other district games. The Wildcats lost a close one to Woodland a year ago and they’ll want to come out and get some revenge. The winner here will be in the driver’s seat to capture the district crown.
Oct. 15 – Hominy
Oct. 22 – AT Pawnee
Oct. 29 – Caney Valley
Nov. 5 – AT Chouteau
