Continue ReadingIt is extremely hard to believe but we are now officially knocking on the door of high school football season as we are about a month away from teeing it up here in Mississippi. Tons of content is headed your way leading up to the season: team breakdowns, prospect evals, All-State teams, updated player rankings and much more. As for now, let’s take a look at what is noteworthy from the past week.
- Dakota Jordan Dakota Jordan 5'11" | 185 lbs | ATH Canton Academy | 2022 State MS continues to be one of the top two-sport athletes the state of Mississippi has seen in some time. The current Mississippi State commit showed out on the baseball diamond in the Perfect Game showcase series this week with athleticism that easily translates to the gridiron. A 6.4 60 yard dash time opened many eyes. One of the states top true ATH’s still has potential to line up all over the field this year and moving forward.
- Tupelo is moving to Region 2-6A this season, further cementing that as the toughest division in the state. Arguments could be made for 7 of the 8 teams in the division as the pre-season favorite. If it is going to be the Golden Wave it will be led by the defense who returns veterans Romero Hampton, Zech Pratt Zech Pratt 6'1" | 165 lbs | DB Tupelo | 2023 State MS , Jacarius Clayton Jacarius Clayton 6'5" | 255 lbs | DL Tupelo | 2022 State MS , and Ja’Marion Scott. The 2nd year under Ty Hardin looks to be bright. For a full team breakdown check this out: High School Team Preview: Tupelo Golden Wave
- Ole Miss picked up a commitment this week from Tylertown speedster WR Jeremiah Dillon Jeremiah Dillon 6'2" | 170 lbs | WR Parklane Academy | 2022 State MS . Dillon is heavily known from the track & field world where he has constantly shown sub-11.00 100 meter dash times. With a big senior season expected this is a great pickup and a very natural fit for a Lane Kiffin offense. Body frame in the 6 ft range with stability and fluidity throughout. Room to add strength and muscle as he grows into the role of being an inside receiver at the next level.
- Name to watch for: Johnnie Daniels Johnnie Daniels 5'11" | 175 lbs | ATH Crystal Springs | 2022 State MS of Crystal Springs. Daniels has been one of our top sleepers at RB for months now. Jucos took notice early and extended offers but Division 1 interest is picking up. Project type back with strength style and build. Shows straight line speed with ability to change directions on the edge. Wouldn’t be surprised to see him as one of the most productive backs in the state this fall.
- Keep your eyes here all week. Team breakdowns are headed your way!
