Continue ReadingWith our 2022 rankings set to be updated later this month, the QBs look to be shaking up a little bit so let’s look at the projected new top five.
The previous top five was led by Brett Griffis Brett Griffis 6'0" | 185 lbs | QB Broad Run | 2022 State VA , followed by Noah Sanders Noah Sanders 6'2" | 210 lbs | QB Brooke Point | 2022 State VA , Davis Lane Davis Lane 6'2" | 195 lbs | QB Liberty Christian Academy | 2022 State VA , Jack Toscano Jack Toscano 6'2" | 205 lbs | QB Trinity Episcopal School | 2022 State VA , and Ethan Vasko Ethan Vasko 6'3" | 180 lbs | QB Oscar Smith | 2022 State VA .
While I don’t expect the five to change, the order probably will, so here is what I project the new order to be. Keep in mind, Griffis was the 26th overall prospect.
- Oscar Smith (Chesapeake) Ethan Vasko Ethan Vasko 6'3" | 180 lbs | QB Oscar Smith | 2022 State VA
I already wrote that I project moving Vasko into the top top 20, and I don’t see Griffis moving up and leapfrogging Vasko, so the new state champ and ODU commit looks to be QB1 in our updated 2022 rankings.
2. Liberty Christian (Lynchburg) Davis Lane Davis Lane 6'2" | 195 lbs | QB Liberty Christian Academy | 2022 State VA
Lane was QB3 in our first rankings and was the 35th overall recruit. Lane recently committed to UVA, and had a great offseason and camp season. I project Lane moving to QB2 in the 2022 class, and somewhere in the top 30 overall. Lane was also the state champion in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.41 which projects out to a 40-yard dash time of 4.66.
Perfect example of either you got it or you don’t.

3. Broad Run (Ashburn) Brett Griffis Brett Griffis 6'0" | 185 lbs | QB Broad Run | 2022 State VA
Griffis has been committed to Wake Forest since December of 2020 and is loyal to the Deacons who also have former Lake Braddock QB Billy Edwards and Griffis brother Mitch in the QB room. Griffis competed at the Elite 11 regional back in May and did well. Griffis also completed over 100 passes in just four games this season. Having 2023 stud OL Alex Birchmeier Alex Birchmeier 6'5" | 275 lbs | OL Broad Run | 2023 State VA on the offensive land doesn’t hurt either.
4. Trinity Episcopal Jack Toscano Jack Toscano 6'2" | 205 lbs | QB Trinity Episcopal School | 2022 State VA
In our initial rankings, Toscano was the fourth-ranked QB and the 40th overall prospect. Toscano will stay at QB4 in our rankings update and will probably hover around the 35-40th range overall. While Toscano didn’t do anything to deserve being knocked down, we just have too many guys to move up to move him up for than 5-7 spots. The 2nd team All-State QB also runs a 4.63 40-yard dash but is without an offer still.
Ice in @jacktoscano15’s veins 🥶…

Still in disbelief that this one doesn’t have a single offer right now. pic.twitter.com/9SxoIiPJvk
5. Brooke Point (Stafford) Noah Sanders Noah Sanders 6'2" | 210 lbs | QB Brooke Point | 2022 State VA
Sanders, at 6’2″ was our second-ranked QB in our initial rankings and our 31st overall recruit, he may drop a few spots but will still be in the top 50, and probably top 40 when our new rankings come out. Since our rankings came out, Sanders hasn’t picked up any new offers, despite a good showing a May’s Under Armour All-American camp in Baltimore. Sanders currently has offers from ODU, Harvard, Yale, and Columbia.
