Two Memphis Area Prospects Are Headed to the SEC
It was a banner week from the Memphis area and West Tennessee region as two of the top overall prospects in the entire state made their official commitments.
M.A.H.S. (TN) receiver Cameron Miller Cameron Miller 6'1" | 190 lbs | ATH M.A.H.S. | 2022 State TN chose Tennessee over many other high profile offers while Christian Brothers (TN) two way lineman Patrick Kutas Patrick Kutas 6'5" | 285 lbs | OL Christian Brothers | 2022 State TN committed to Arkansas. These are two very talented young men that are headed to SEC programs that need more talent and should give both Miller and Kutas an opportunity to compete for immediate playing time when they arrive on campus.
Miller is a natural athlete that could excel on either side of the ball. He is headed to Knoxville as an expected #1 or #2 eventual receiver that provides size, physicality and big play abilities. Miller isn’t completely polished but he is close, so that gives him a chance to get on the field as soon as possible.
Kutas has strong upside as a lineman that could play either way at Arkansas but was recruited to Fayetteville as an O-lineman and someone that could play in the NFL one day.
The Purple Wave senior lineman is a good athlete with a nice frame that can take on more weight. He is also versatile where he could play right tackle or slide inside to guard in his time with the Razorbacks.
Both Miller and Kutas were recruited by high quality football programs, so most around the college landscape can see the upside and potential with both of these guys. These are two big wins for the Vols and Razorbacks adding eventual, possible starters that have upside for bigger things.
Tulane Adds a Steal W/ Long
Heading into the Fall football season, Beech tight end Jackson Long Jackson Long 6'5" | 220 lbs | TE Beech | 2022 State TN was looking to make his college commitment prior to the season starting and he did just that last week when he pledged his talents to the Tulane Green Wave. This is a big pickup by the Green Wave in several ways as they not only continue to haul in prospects from the Volunteer State but they added a player in Long who’s best football is ahead of him.
Standing 6’5 225 pounds, Long is a big guy that is still filling out his body and maturing. The Buccaneers star tight end showed this summer during camps that he can run and be a force on offense that can work deep or intermediate routes. Long is a deceptive athlete that can be used in a variety of ways on offense. He can work out wide or put his hand in the dirt as a blocker. Long has a lot of tools that translate very well to the next level and the Tulane coaching staff certainly saw that.
This is an underrated pickup by Tulane that many around the national scene may not pay attention to now but down the road, Long has the makings of an All-Conference caliber player, if he continues to develop the way I believe he will in his time with the Green Wave.
Lynx D-Lineman Picks Up a Strong OVC Offer
One of busiest and hardest workers on the offseason camp scene this year has been Lausanne (TN) Def. Tackle Myles Saulsberry Myles Saulsberry 6'2" | 285 lbs | DL Lausanne | 2022 State TN and all his hard work paid off when last week he received an official offer from the Red Hawks of Southeast Missouri State.
Saulsberry is an athletic interior rusher that impressed SEMO coaches throughout the process as someone that can develop into a multi talented guy that can equally play versus the run and the pass on the college level. This past weekend in Cape Girardeau, Saulsberry visited the Red Hawks and appeared to be impressed with everything he saw. It would not be surprising to see Saulsberry eventually make a commitment to SEMO but we shall see as other programs may decide to get involved.
#WestTN24 Def. End is a Force to Watch
The recruiting world better take notice because we have a new star on the horizon with 2024 Houston (TN) Def. End Kavion Benton Kavion Benton 6'3" | 250 lbs | DL Southwind | 2024 State TN as he established himself recently with two big Power Five offers and many, many more on it’s way!
Already sporting a 6’3 245 pound frame, Benton is a physical beast that is still developing his game and body, so you can see why Florida and Louisville went ahead and offered this West Tennessee product. He could grow into a defensive tackle by his senior season or he could sproat in height and slim out his frame to become a true edge defensive end.
Benton already shows a good work ethic and the desire to become the best player he can be. Eyes will be glued to his upcoming sophomore season just to see how good he is and where his future sits within the world of college football.
