The event was the last big passing tournament of the summer in Orange County. Teams are not taking their dead periods before training camps can start next week.
Here are some reports from the event:
Saugus won the event defeating El Modena in the championship game. Brady Welch was at quarterback for the Centurions taking over for Colton Fitzgerald who reclassified and will play at Toledo in 2022. Welch is also a lacrosse player for Saugus. Sebastian Dallaire, Jacob Faraldo, Khai Ky-Yeith, and AJ Goodman had impactful moments at wide receiver according to multiple reports.
Braden Salazar and Vinny Gallagher led the Saugus secondary.

El Modena was one of the more impressive teams at the tournament. Quarterback Jack Keays looks considerably more muscular than he did in the spring and made good throws. Like a few of the quarterbacks at the tournament, the 7-on-7 style isn’t suited for his strengths.
A couple of highlights from the Huntington Beach 7v7 tournament today. We got 2nd place out of 16 total teams. @elmodenafb @ocvarsityguy @coachjimvert pic.twitter.com/rkhCzbFOFQ

Owen Smith and Sam Astor are key offensive weapons to watch for the Vanguards this spring. Smith made a lot of plays in the passing game out of the backfield last spring on wheel routes, swings and screens.
The El Modena linemen also had the most reps on the bench press portion of the lineman competition with 119. Esteban Choucair led the pack with 31 reps of 185 pounds.

Hosts Huntington Beach reached the semifinals by beating Tesoro in the quarterfinals. AJ Perez looked good at quarterback and Hideo Ray made some plays after the catch. The Oilers lineman won the tug of war at the lineman competition as well.

Western quarterback Anthony Luna looked pretty solid on the clips that I saw of Western from the tournament. He has all the tools to succeed: a good receiving corps, a good offensive line and a coaching staff that will have him prepared. Michael Sutton-Shy made some big plays at receiver for the Pioneers.
Last 7on7 tourney for my High School career. Now it’s hitting season. Watch me work! Competed against some of the best today in the @Sunset_Rewind @westernpioneer1 @CoachDavidsonWH @westcoastpreps_ @mikehuntley63 @GregBiggins @BrandonHuffman @PrepRedzoneCA @ocvarsityguy pic.twitter.com/VrzUBSrtZP

The stars for Orange made positive impressions on scouts and media as expected. Zachary Siskowic Zachary Siskowic 6'2" | 185 lbs | QB Notre Dame | 2022 State CA throws hard and is the perfect experienced quarterback to lead this young team. Kobe Boykin Kobe Boykin 5'9" | 175 lbs | RB Los Alamitos | 2024 CA played well on both sides of the ball. It will be fun to see how the Orange coaching staff uses the versatility of Boykin. He can play in the running back and in the slot and I expect him to get 15 touches a game this fall.
Orange’s freshman corner Jett White Jett White 6'1" | 155 lbs | DB Los Alamitos | 2025 CA already has the height and footwork to be a major star. When he adds muscle and strength in the next year or two, watch out.

Charter Oak had some positive moments throughout the tournament. Quarterback Vincent Farrar looks good and has chemistry with his receivers. Sam Mason Sam Mason 6'2" | 185 lbs | WR Charter Oak | 2022 State CA is an excellent two-way player to watch for Charter Oak this fall.
Foothill quarterback Brody Jones is getting his chance to start for the Knights this year and he is blessed with having a tall receiving corps. Mikey Mazurie (6-foot-6), Aaron Dabalack (6-foot-4) and tight end Patrick Hawkins (6-foot-5) are all going to be key targets for Jones this fall. I wrote about Hawkins in my recruiting report last week. He has offers from Yale, Bucknell and Columbia.
