With all of these guys already holding multiple power five offers, it is safe to say that the California high school football scene will be fun to be around for the years to come. Here’s a look at the top 5 ranked QB’s from the 2024 class:
Darius Curry Darius Curry 6'1" | 190 lbs | QB Long Beach Poly | 2024 State CA , 5’11″ 190lbs, Long Beach Poly
Curry is a mechanically sound dual-threat QB that recently transferred to Poly from St. Bernard. He stands in the pocket with solid poise and delivers with an effortless release. Curry possesses solid arm strength to both stretch the field vertically or fit throws into tight windows with ideal timing and placement. He throws well on the run in both directions with accuracy and can still hit throws with velocity when throwing off-platform. He’s a plus athlete that has to be accounted for on the ground, and he will be a threat both through the air and with his legs. He currently holds 8 offers total which include LSU, Georgia, Florida State, Michigan, Michigan State, Washington State, Arizona State, Kansas, and FIU.
Julian Sayin Julian Sayin 6'1" | 195 lbs | QB Carlsbad | 2024 State CA , 6’1″ 185lbs, Carlsbad
Sayin is a highly touted prospect out of SoCal that currently holds 14 offers and should see more flood in as he continues to mature and produce. He stands collected in the pocket while scanning the field and makes accurate and quick reads. He delivers with a smooth release with outstanding timing and placement. He identifies coverages very well for a 2024 QB and can hit throws from all depths. He throws with excellent touch on vertical routes and has shown the ability to hit back shoulder throws with the perfect velocity. Sayin has shown the ability to extend plays and pick up yards on his feet as well, and will only continue to light up California high school football.
Elijah Brown, 6’2″ 185lbs, Mater Dei
Brown stepped up and filled perhaps the biggest role in the state as a freshman after taking over for current Alabama QB Bryce Young and leading one of the best teams in the nation to an undefeated spring season. Brown is cool and collected under pressure and delivers with a fluid motion with a quick release. He displays an excellent demeanor in the pocket and has shown the ability to hit all 3 levels of throws with velocity and accuracy. He possesses a strong football IQ at a young age and holds numerous intangibles that colleges will rave about. He currently holds offers from Utah, Arizona, and Pitt, but projects to explode in 2021 and see the flood gates open up with offers.
Carson Su’esu’e Carson Su’esu’e 6'5" | 200 lbs | QB De La Salle | 2024 CA , 6’4″ 185lbs, De La Salle
Su’esu’e sizes up with a tremendous frame with solid length and is an impressive all-around athlete. He is a big arm kid with a lightning quick release with the ability to hit all 3 levels of throws with accuracy and timing. He can fit throws in with velocity when needed as well, but is a tremendous deep ball passer. He’s a plus athlete that can burn defenses with his arm along with his legs on designed QB runs, coverage sacks, or busted plays. A very dynamic player that can excel as a WR as well, as I expect him to have a highly productive sophomore season. Su’esu’e currently holds 8 offers from Tennessee, Pitt, Arizona State, Utah, Hawaii, Utah State, FAU, and William & Mary.
Myles Jackson Myles Jackson 6'2" | 190 lbs | QB Millikan | 2024 CA , 6’2″ 200lbs, Millikan
Jackson is a pro-style QB with a solid frame and build and holds offers from Texas A&M, Arizona, Oregon State, Nevada, BYU, and San Jose State. He possesses a natural arm talent with a quick release with the ability to hit throws with velocity from any depth. Plus arm strength as he can hit tight window throws, stretch the field vertically, and deliver off-balance throws with velocity and accuracy. He scans the field well and shows anticipation for developing routes and is not rattled under pressure. He has that demeanor to drive the ball downfield and is an intriguing 2024 prospect to watch.
