Every Monday, we update you on all of the recruiting news from across the state. From offers to commitments and everything in between, we’ll have you covered. This week, we are back after another week off as things continued to be slow when it comes to the state’s recruitment. So unless somehting changes, we might go from a weekly report to once every two weeks. However, in the last two weeks, we’ve had some news. Two prospects announced commitments. Oklahoma State offered the state’s best kicker and one ball hawk prospect picked up his first offer. Plus, we have news and notes on all other offers from across the state. As always, you can follow us on Twitter to stay up to date from the moment an offer or commitment happens. @PrepRedzoneOK
THIS WEEK’S TOP STORIES
Commitment Alert!
We had a nice run this summer of commitments but then things slowed down once again in late July. However, we had two more commitments in the last week as Shawnee 2022 offensive lineman
Braden Kirkland

gave a commitment to Central Michigan.
Oklahoma’s 2022 class now has 24 prospects who are currently committed. Kirkland is the first 2022 prospect to give a commitment to a non-D1 school. Brown is the only commitment to Central Michigan. However, he’s not the only 2022 quarterback that’s committed. Jones’ Carson May Carson May 6'5" | QB Jones | 2022 State OK is committed to Iowa and Edmond Santa Fe’s Scott Pfieffer Scott Pfieffer 6'3" | QB Edmond Santa Fe | 2022 State OK is committed to Houston Baptist.
Kirkland is part of a Shawnee offensive line that we actually think will be one of the best units in Class 5A this season. Combine that offensive line with the running abilities of 2022 running back Jaylon Orange Jaylon Orange 5'10" | RB Shawnee | 2022 State OK and the Wolves are going to have one of the top rushing attacks in the state, regardless of class. Brown split time at the start of his junior season but eventually became the guy and is the latest standout quarterback to come out of Lincoln Christian in the last decade.

picked up his first offer in the last week when Houston Baptist extended an offer. King was an absolute breakout star for the Hornets last year on a team full of stars. When the Hornets had a couple injuries in the secondary, they needed a player to step up. That player ended up being King.
As a junior, King was one of the state’s best ball hawks, regardless of class. He had a game in which he had four interceptions. It was pretty apparent to us that King would end up being one of the better defensive backs in the 2022 class. However, it’s taken a little longer for King’s recruitment to take off. We’ve seen what King did last year and got a chance to see him plenty of times this offseason and we don’t quite understand what recruiters were waiting for or what was holding them back. But nevertheless, the first offer is in and it should be a busy fall for King.
Oklahoma State Offers Top In-State Kicker
It’s been well documented on this website on just how well Oklahoma State has done with recruiting the state’s top prospects. They’ve taken another step to that by offering the state’s top kicking prospect in Marlow 2022 kicker

OSU already has seven prospects in the state’s 2022 class currently committed. And we mentioned not only the state’s class, but the top prospects. Six of the seven prospects that are committed are ranked in the Top 20 of our 2022 rankings. Now, Gilbert will have a decision to make and he’s not committed yet. But you can’t help but be impressed with what OSU has done in their own backyard.

made a couple unofficial visits in the last week. He also picked up another offer as Miami added their name to the list of countless FBS programs who have offered the Bixby standout. Earlier in the week last week, Hasz was in South Carolina visiting the Clemson campus. Late in the week, he made another trip to Fayetteville to get another look at Arkansas.
Hasz announced his top eight schools in July and Arkansas was one of the eight. Alabama, LSU, Ohio State, OU, OSU, TCU and Texas made up the rest of the list. Since announcing that list, several schools, like Miami, have offered the Bixby big man. Clemson was not among the eight schools but as we know in recruiting, things can always change.
