Continue ReadingLaRue took on Bardstown in week 6, LaRue who is having a rough 1 – 3 season despite some amazing individual performances, they are looking to get on track midseason. Bardstown had a surprisingly good season, beating some tough teams, and winning some close games and entering the game 4 – 0. The game began with both teams scoring and getting the 2pt, but Bardstown got 2 quick TDs to make it 24 – 8. Near halftime, LaRue scored one more time getting the game to 16 – 24, and until the 4th quarter the score stayed at this score. Bardstown then got the game to 40 – 16 after another pair of quick TDs and LaRue defensive mistakes. LaRue made a late rally in the 4th, but was not able to overcome the deficit, final score 46 – 30. Bardstown now 5 – 0 and looking better than ever, here are top 5 performances by their players throughout their season so far ;
Rank 1 : TJ Greenwell RB/DE Jr.
TJ Greenwell is a great player on both sides of the football, he can wrap up and finish plays on defense, and has ability to run the ball effectively and block for other runners or for PAs. TJ has had an exceptional season but particularly on week 2 he displayed his versatile talent, while getting a statement win against a good program in John Hardin. TJ had more than 200 offensive yards and amassed 15 tackles, he got this through his relentless playstyle that saw him actively finding and full speed running every play, I’m not sure if Greenwell has track in his background but he had that type of gas tank where he never seemed phased or fatigued in the slightest even after taking a 20 to 30 yard run to the house.
Week 2
8 Solo, 7 Assisted Tackles / 18 rushes 162 yards 2 TDs / 3 Receptions 45 yards
Rank 2 : Brady Clark QB Sr.
Brady has had an amazing season, every game his percentage is very high, his volume isn’t much, but his game has QUALITY. 300 Yards, 3 TDs, 2 Sacks and another TFL in their win in week 5. Brady Clark was full of highlights this game and showed himself to be a top talent leading a top team in the region., he also rallied his team several times to continue to put it on Spencer County defintely gonna be a problem for other 3A schools come playoff time. Every game you get quality play for Brady, he is a playmaker and a walking highlight reel, more to come from him in the future.
Week 5
13 / 20 for 1 INT, 2 TDs, and 203 passing yards / 11 rushes for 111 yards and 1 TD / 8 Tackles, 1 TFL, 2 Sacks
Rank 3 : Tyleeq Williams RB/LB So.
Tyleeq has had other amazing performances on Offense, but in week 4, he put on one of the best defensive performances I have covered. A whopping 17 tackles, and he was consistent all game holding Elizabethtown, who has multiple regionally ranked offensive players, to only 14 points. Panthers did not go down without a fight, but Williams fought harder, taking matters into his own hands and taking on ball carriers 1 on 1, and blowing past linemen to get hits the runner wasn’t expecting. Tyleeq has power in his hit, speed in his runs and an ability to get after the ball.
Week 4
5 rushes for 51 yards / 17 Tackles
Rank 4 : Shannon Tonge WR Jr.
Shannon Tonge has been doing this all season and just continues to impress in his 2 most recent games, he has went off for multiple receiving TDs and +150 yard game. Tonge started as a player who was a regular WR on offense but through the season he grew into their #1 option. Improving his ability to get off the line with separation and keep that distance through a route is exactly what he does, and recently he looks more athletic and better and fighting and jumping for catches. Shannon is a player to look out for, as he only improves through this season.
Week 5
9 Receptions for 168 yards and 2 TDs
Rank 5 : Kyan Lydian Def. So.
Kyan Lydian is a consistent player, he has similar production in each game, which is a top3 defensive player for Bardstown nearly every week. Knowing his job and task at hand no matter where and who he is playing, Lydian is going to get his stops in. Totaling more than 50 tackles this season, and not having less than 8 in a game, Kyan is what a lot of teams need on defense, someone who you can put anywhere on the field and you know they will disrupt the offense, and you know how much you will get out of him, sometimes more.
All Season
8 solo week 1
Honorable Mention : Brady Clark QB Sr.
Another quick mention of Brady Clark’s playstyle, its extremely patient and effective. Brady Clark makes highlights, but he also doesn’t make mistakes, the accuracy and amount of success he found in 16 throws some other QBs don’t get done in 30 throws.
Week 4
13 / 16 3 TDs, 174 yards
