1) Kendall Brice DT #32 (John Hardin) Sr.
6′ 5 D-Linemen who held his own against the undefeated Bruins, extremely effective, heavy rushing attack. Kendall Brice has the size and is shaping up to be an agile, aware player, and being someone that many teams probably plan around. Kendall doesn’t get the craziest stats but he does get frequent plays for short to no gain. Brice was one of the few players that stood opposite of some successful RBs and shut them down.
2) Blake Pedley DL #7 (Bullitt Central) Jr.
Blake Pedley has had double digit tackles almost every week and has ability to get in the backfield for drive ending defensive plays. Pedley ended the 1st month with 38 tackles across the first 4 games and all of them came from his ability to shot off the snap and get where he needed to be quickly,. Most of the time leveling runners before they have a chance to cut or putting down receivers down shortly after the catch. Blake Pedley is a player who doesn’t get enough attention for how much he does on the field each play and the success he has with that amount of workload as well.
3) Jaxon McLeaden DE/OLB #40 (Spencer County) Sr.
Was the #1 D-Linemen to open the season and after 1 month of play nothing has changed. He is still a region leading tackler almost every week, and has amazing speed, Spencer county isn’t the biggest school but they do have some great induvial talent that I think most would not expect. Jaxon has the ability to pass rush that lead to sacks, runs stopped for loss, reading check downs and screens. Has a lot going for him, and I only see him getting better.
4) Gregory Hall DE #25 (Elizabethtown) Sr.
Gregory has been a top 5 DE before, and the main reason I put him so high in the rankings is because he has the skill, and the leadership that carries Elizabethtown in their victories. Hall is a special player that has block shedding figured out, and has great foot movement as he is their main running back. Gregory Hall will be a player in future rankings as he was in past rankings, he is the best Defensive player for Elizabethtown’s strong defense.
5) Andrew Hobbs DL #63 (Central Hardin) Jr.
Central Hardin’s line is an amazing unit that in my opening week positional report I kind of glazed over. After recent performances, like holding the regions #1 and #4 Rbs to only 1 TD, and seeing games where the opposing QB can get any time to throw, I looked into any pictures and videos I could find of the Bruins and on Defense I seen the Interior linemen of CHHS are causing alot of these issues. Andrew Hobbs is a bigger player, but his weight is well filled out and doesn’t seem to effect him as much as it helps him push people back quickly off the snap. Hobbs blitz potential is amazing, in 1 on 1 matchups he excels. Andrew has a lot of potential and showed tons of success that hasn’t went unnoticed as he is a big part of all 4 wins for the bruins.
6) Patrick Ballard OLB #22 (Bullitt East) Sr.
Bullitt East uses some formations where there OLB’s are on the line and it seems Ballard, as verstaile as he is, plays on the line some plays and outside zone or man on others, he has been a consistent leader in stats and in the game for the Chargers. 2 wins in the season seen Ballard get 10 solo tackles, and also had Bullitt East holding the opposing team to 14 points, the only loss for Patrick Ballard’s team came from a 2-pt loss (48 – 46 against Graves County). Patrick has some great potential off the line, with lots of TFL and Solo tackles that lead his team to some solid wins throughout the season.
7) Tucker Walter DT #64 (Central Hardin) So.
Like mentioned with Hobb’s, the Bruins D-Line is a highly effecient unit that went unnoticed by me in week 1, and Tucker Walter is an excellent interior linemen having a couple highlight moments through the season, tipping passes and blowing up the O-Line for a sack are some of them. Tucker Walter usually got singled out for running plays getting chipped and blocked or just plain old double blocked for some runs in week 4 and 5, but still clogged up the lanes for the RB and gave his team mates more of a chance of making contact.
8) Elijah Palmer DE/OLB #4 (North Hardin) Sr.
Elijah Palmer has the skills and the body needed for a HS outside linebacker, and is showing a ton of growth in his play, just this season alone. Palmer is almost always helping a play get stopped and has a lot of cardio to help him with his full field playstyle. Palmer is the type of player that if the play wasn’t on his side, he is already trying to shoot for an angle to run at the ball carrier, great heart and determination from a top linemen at North Hardin who might not have the best schedule but have also played some tough teams (South Warren, DuPont Manual, and Apollo)
9) Chad Doogs DT #59 (Elizabethtown) Sr.
Chad Doogs has always played at an above average level for Elizabethtown, they might not be a team with an undefeated record or crazy box scores, but they have some players who shine in each game they play. Chad is one of those players, he has fallen in our rankings but not because of his play, there have just been a lot of other D-Linemen to come up in the season. Chad Doogs has a role on Elizabethtown and follows it, you will get the same Chad from week 1 that you get mid season in week 5. A strong D-Linemen, who is faster than those he goes up against and has the ability to find the ball carrier and if he cant help the tackles he will stuff running lanes, a great DL prospect to continue to watch in Central KY.
10) Mason Brandon DE/OLB #3 (Meade County) Sr.
Meade has only played 2 out of their 4 scheduled games due to cancellations. During the 2 games Brandon played he showed quality play, wrapping up frequently, stopping the offense most of the time. and having a good pace throughout.
