1. Colin Page (SR-RB) – Anderson High School (Austin, TX)
2021 Season: 526 rushing yards, 8 rushing touchdowns, 389 receiving yards, 4 receiving touchdowns
Page has quickly emerged as one of the most elite running backs in Central Texas, putting up the numbers he has had already. He has showcased his speed and his effectiveness by not just running the ball well, but by also being an effective receiver as well. He can turn a wheel route into a touchdown or even just a curl route. What makes him especially problematic for opposing defenses, is his ability to just bounce off of tackles.
2. Cade Klubnik Cade Klubnik 6'2" | 180 lbs | QB Austin Westlake | 2022 State TX (SR-QB) – Westlake High School (Austin, TX)
2021 Season: 923 passing yards, 10 passing touchdowns, 1 interception, 92 rushing yards, 3 rushing touchdowns
No surprise here, Klubnik is easily one of the best quarterbacks in Texas high school football. He is accurate, has excellent awareness and can sling the ball down the field. He really showed his athleticism when moving outside the pocket against Mansfield Summit. Klubnik has put up insane numbers already this season and that trend will more than likely continue as Westlake is a dominant force in the game.
3. Mason Shorb Mason Shorb 6'3" | 175 lbs | QB Rouse | 2023 State TX (JR-QB) – Rouse High School (Leander, TX)
2021 Season: 1,070 passing yards, 12 passing touchdowns, 1 interception, 2 rushing touchdowns
Although Rouse suffered a tough loss to Weiss, Shorb still had something to show everyone in the game. One of his best highlights was a 23-yard scramble which showed not only his ability to escape a crumbling pocket but also the awareness that the pocket is collapsing in the first place.
4. Jesse Leija (JR-RB) – Fredericksburg High School (Fredericksburg, TX)
2021 Season: 510 rushing yards, 7 rushing touchdowns, 73 receiving yards, 1 receiving touchdown
5. Austin Novosad Austin Novosad 6'4" | 195 lbs | QB Dripping Springs | 2023 State TX (JR-QB) – Dripping Springs High School (Dripping Springs, TX)
2021 Season: 871 passing yards, 11 passing touchdowns, 2 interceptions
Novosad has also emerged as a dominant force in the game. Lockhart simply had no answers for him all game, including allowing him to throw a 70-yard touchdown pass. Novosad is one of those quarterbacks that makes it look easy, even while under pressure. He is excellent off of play-action and is constantly calm and collected which allows him to make accurate and precise throws regardless if defenders are breathing down his neck. He has full trust in his receivers to make the play.
6. Preston Alford Preston Alford 5'11" | 190 lbs | RB Dripping Springs | 2022 State TX (SR-QB) – Dripping Springs High School (Dripping Springs, TX)
2021 Season: 453 rushing yards, 9 rushing touchdowns, 1 receiving touchdown
Another dominant player from Dripping Springs, Alford did not record anything new, at least according to MaxPreps, last week. However, Alford still remains high in the rankings just given off what he has already done.
7. Ethan Moreno (JR-WR) – Lampasas High School (Lampasas, TX)
2021 Season: 114 rushing yards, 1 rushing touchdown, 20 receptions, 347 receiving yards, 5 receiving touchdowns
8. Trayvian McCoy-Gay (SR-RB) – Round Rock High School (Round Rock, TX)
2021 Season: 496 rushing yards, 6 rushing touchdowns
9. Mario Hopwood (SO-DB) – Marlin High School (Marlin, TX)
2021 Season: 22 total tackles, 4 interceptions
10. Dakota Metcalf (SR-DL) – Johnson City High School (Johnson City, TX)
2021 Season: 22 total tackles, 20 solo tackles, 5 sacks, 8 hurries, 3 fumble recoveries
