That is why properly developing linebackers is essential. This is a process that begins, in earnest, as soon as new linebackers arrive at the high school level. The Class of 2025 is filled with several players who have what it takes to be defensive leaders in the years ahead. We will break down five such prospects today.
Cayden Martin Cayden Martin 6'0" | 165 lbs | LB South Newton | 2025 State IN , 6’0, 165 pounds, South Newton
Through four games, Cayden Martin Cayden Martin 6'0" | 165 lbs | LB South Newton | 2025 State IN has made an impact at the varsity level at South Newton. Martin has come up with 24 total tackles, 13 of those solo tackles. Martin can get into the backfield. He has already posted 3.5 tackles for loss and one sack this year. Martin has tallied one pass defensed. On top of that, Martin has shown a ball-hawking ability as he has forced a fumble this year. Khaled Alzeer Khaled Alzeer 5'11" | 210 lbs | LB Boone Grove | 2025 State IN , 5’10, 195 pounds, Boone Grove
In his freshman season, Khaled Alzeer Khaled Alzeer 5'11" | 210 lbs | LB Boone Grove | 2025 State IN has shown that he can be an impactful player. Alzeer can play both middle linebacker and offensive guard. Alzeer has played mostly on the defensive side of the ball in his two varsity appearances so far. He has racked up four solo tackles and nine total stops. Alzeer demonstrates the ability to get penetration as he has come up with two tackles for loss so far. His ability to play along the offensive line will help a lot as he will be accustomed to the physical side of the game and he can provide versatility.

Roy Thornbury Roy Thornbury 6'1" | DL Hagerstown | 2025 State IN is another prospect who focuses primarily on linebacker but he does the ability to play another position. Thornbury can also contribute to the team as a wide receiver. Playing on varsity, Thornbury has played in three games so far. He has accumulated an impressive tally of 14 solo tackles. Thornbury has been in on 17 stops overall. Roy Thornbury Roy Thornbury 6'1" | DL Hagerstown | 2025 State IN has also produced one tackle for loss. Thornbury shows a ton of upside and he can help the team in several ways.
Daniel Ludwig Daniel Ludwig LB Blackford | 2025 State IN , Blackford
Daniel Ludwig Daniel Ludwig LB Blackford | 2025 State IN has been limited so far this season for Blackford, but in a short amount of time on the varsity squad, he has provided plenty of reason to be excited about his future. Ludwig has made one appearance this year, but in that game he was very productive. He had seven solo tackles and ten total tackles. This shows that Ludwig can be that tackling force at linebacker that coaches covet. He has a ton of potential and with more time out on the field, I believe he will grow into a great linebacker in the years ahead.
Aiden Grover Aiden Grover 5'9" | RB Hagerstown | 2025 State IN , 5’9, Hagerstown
There is a lot for Hagerstown fans to like as they are set to have an elite linebacker duo in their midst for the next four years. Complimenting the aforementioned Roy Thornbury Roy Thornbury 6'1" | DL Hagerstown | 2025 State IN is Aiden Grover Aiden Grover 5'9" | RB Hagerstown | 2025 State IN . Grover has been a fantastic two-way contributor on varsity this year, playing both running back as well as linebacker. Through four games, Grover has carried the ball 29 times for a total of 160 rushing yards. He has an impressive average of 5.5 yards per carry. Grover has reached the end zone on three of his carries. He also has a 53-yard receiving touchdown this season. Defensively, Grover has 21 solo tackles and 30 total. He also has one tackle for loss, one sack and one forced fumble. Aiden Grover Aiden Grover 5'9" | RB Hagerstown | 2025 State IN is a defensive playmaker who can be the heart and soul of a program.
