Jeff Becker Jeff Becker 6'0" | 195 lbs | QB Carroll | 2022 State IN – Carroll – QB – 6’1″ 195 lbs
I was trying to go 1 week without having either Becker or Clark on here but when you have start QBs sometimes they just go ballistic and that’s what Becker did on Friday. In what was supposed to be a great matchup between Carroll and Dwenger turned into a 7 on 7 practice for Becker. Every time he got the ball they marched down and scored. He finished the night with 327-yards and 6 passing TDs.
Jameson Coverstone – Carroll – WR – 5’8″ 150 lbs
Coverstone was a benefactor of Becker being dialed in all night. Those 2 had the hot connection early and it stayed hot the entire game. Coverstone was open all night and eventually had to be pressed at the line to slow him down. On the first play from scrimmage, they took a shot and Becker got it to Coverstone where he made a heck of a grab and raced down for the touchdown. He later had another TD grab in the middle of the endzone to start to pull away. He finished the night with another touchdown from Becker as Carroll poured it on. Carroll has a ton of weapons and it was great to see Coverstone explode this week.
Tyrese Brown – Snider – RB – 5’11″ 205 lbs
Tyrese Brown has rapidly become one of my favorite backs in Fort Wayne. He’s big, strong, physical, and loves to finish a run with his head down. Friday he was clicking on all cylinders and running over Homestead defenders. He never comes down on the first attempt and Friday he taught the defense a thing or 2 about tackling. He finished the evening with 150 rushing yards and 1 touchdown.
Julante Hinton Julante Hinton 6'2" | 210 lbs | DL Northrop | 2024 State IN – Northrop – RB – 6’0″ 200 lbs
Julante is only a sophomore but he’s getting a bigger and bigger role in that offense every week. He’s big and strong and has a naturally lower center of gravity. It keeps him stable as he lowers his head and invites contact. He can power through the A and B gaps with ease and has soft hands for a bigger back. I’m excited to keep watching his development because he’s just getting started and making big plays. Friday he busted a pretty TD run where he ran over a defender and dragged another defender with him into the endzone.
Lamarion Nelson – Wayne – RB – 5’8″ 160 lbs
Lamarion put on a historic performance on Friday. South Side sat out the week prior due to Covid issues and they came out rusty. Because of that, Nelson got hot and stayed hot. He was breaking tackles, making guys miss, and running through defenders. There was a stretch of run plays where he got the ball and picked of a 1st down on 5 straight runs. He finished the evening with 267 rushing yards and 2 touchdowns.
