Ethan Sievers – Columbia City – RB – 6’0″ 175 lbs
Sievers helped patrol a run game that got going early on Friday. It was arguably the best that the Columbia City offense looked all season. They were moving up and down the field taking massive chunks at a time. Sievers was the focal point on Friday and he looked great. It was the first time he got the bulk of the carries instead of sharing at least half of them. Sievers found a rhythm and broke a few tackles too. He was able to find the endzone twice on Friday.
Logan Montoya – DeKalb – WR/CB – 5’11” 180 lbs
In a year where not a lot has gone right for the Barons, Montoya has been a bright spot all season long. He’s been able to make a few wild acrobatic catches to this point and he made another on Friday. Montoya laid out in the corner of the endzone while sliding to get both feet in bounds for a touchdown. It was a fantastic grab and gave the offense some life after another slow start to the game.
Quantri Sanders – New Haven – RB/SS – 5’9″ 165 lbs
For a team that hasn’t been great on the ground this year, they found their groove on Friday. Sanders was able to get going early and stayed hot throughout the entire game. He showed great agility and elusiveness in the hole and great acceleration after he bust through it. It was the first time Sanders has stood out to the point I think they should give him more work in the coming weeks. He’s now on my radar and will keep an eye on his performance in the coming weeks. He finished the night with well over 150-yards and 2 scores. He broke a beautiful 50-yard touchdown where he just turned on the jets and looked like Darren Sproles racing down the sideline.
Luke Graft – Norwell – RB – 6’0″ 195 lbs
On a night where the opposing RB looked great, Graft decided to show him up and put on an absolute clinic. Graft was gashing the defense all night and finished with just under 150 rushing yards and he had 4 total touchdowns. He couldn’t be stopped and it was partly because of his ability to lower the shoulder and bulldoze the defender. It was an overall fantastic performance for Graft and hopefully he can repeat that performance again.
Dillon Trout – Huntington North – TE – 6’2″ 190 lbs
Trout isn’t the most dynamic player but he’s been Huntington North’s most dependable pass catcher this season. When they needed him on Friday he delivered multiple times. He broke a long touchdown pass where he raced up the sideline, made an acrobatic catch, brought it in, and raced down to the endzone to tie the game. Consistency is key and that’s what Trout has been all season. He’s big, strong, and fast for his size. I’m excited to keep watching his development and where he lands at the collegiate level.
