Aaron Jacquay – Carroll – DE – 6’5″ 210 lbs
Carroll’s defense suffocated Bishop Dwenger all evening and Jacquay had a lot to do with that. He was forcing pressure all game and was able to get home at one point in the game. He pressured right off the edge of the LT and got the sack to end a drive. Bishop Dwenger’s offensive line couldn’t get any push on Friday and it’s because of how explosive Jacquay was the entire game.
Isaiah Maxwell – Snider – LB – 5’10” 190 lbs
Snider was flying all over the field on Friday making tackles and big plays. He was the signal-caller for the Panthers on Friday and he had a big game. He made the biggest play on defense when it mattered the most. The opposing offense was driving and Maxwell laid out a big hit and forced the ball to come lose and he recovered it. It stalled a drive that was going to change the entire momentum of the game.
Larry Schoenefeld – Concordia – OT/DE – 6’2″ 225 lbs
Larry plays both ways for Concorcida but his biggest impact play was on defense. When Northrop was driving and getting ready to put Concordia in a pinch, Schoenefeld got home for a sack. He pressured off of the edge and chased down the QB and got the sack. He made another tackle for loss on the very next play and it ended the drive. Larry made two plays when they needed it and the defense came away scot-free on that drive.
Gavin Smithson-Burciaga – Monroe Central – DE/LB – 6’3″ 225 lbs
Gavin made a massive impact on Friday. In the most anticipated matchup for Monroe Central of the year, he came through for the defense. With the lights on, everyone watching, and South Adams driving, Gavin made a game-changing play. He read the QB’s eyes, stayed patient, jumped the route, and took the ball, and raced 70-yards for the touchdown.
Jordan Hinshaw – South Adams – WR/CB – 6’0″ 175 lbs
Hinshaw plays both ways and made big plays on both offense and defense. On offense, he had just under 80-yards from scrimmage. His biggest impact moment was late in the game with Monroe Central with their backs to the wall. Hinshaw busted through the A-gap and hit the quarterback for a massive sack. He later forced pressure again and hit the ball as the QB was releasing it. It floated down to the endzone where it was picked off.
