Both teams are heading in the right direction and both are full of speed and overall talent. Here are a few top players to know about in the game….
Kojo Antwi Kojo Antwi 6'1" | 190 lbs | WR Lambert | 2022 State GA – Lambert
Ranked as the No.1 receiver in the state, you won’t find many more explosive than Antwi. The Forsyth County native recently made his college decision, choosing to play at Ohio State over Alabama, Georgia, Texas A&M, among others. The 6-foot-0 190-pounder is an elite route runner with great hands. He can line up on the outside and beat defenders deep, and he can line up in the slot and run some routes in short-yardage situations as well. Antwi’s quick feet allow him to change directions well and create separation with ease. He’s a fluid runner, and his ability to stop on a dime and change directions makes it tough for any defensive back to stay with him. He’s an excellent down-field threat and has an extra gear that helps him get behind his defenders. He’s also dangerous after the catch. The four-star consistently makes defenders miss and is so tough to tackle in the open field. He can zig-zag past defenders and always has an eye on the end-zone. He’s a true game-changing receiver who can take over a game due to his speed, athleticism, and overall explosiveness.
Grayson Mains Grayson Mains 6'5" | 265 lbs | OL Lambert | 2022 State GA – OL – Lambert
One of the top offensive line prospects in North Georgia, the big 6-foot-5 275-pounder is off to a big senior season after a great offseason where he saw his recruitment take off. He’s now committed to South Carolina, and his play so far in 2021 backs up why. He bends exceptionally well for his size and can dominate opposing defenders with his size and length. He’ll only get better as he continues to add weight and more muscle in the offseason. Mains has led a solid Lambert offense that’s rushed for over 500 yards so far this season.
Nathan Efobi Nathan Efobi 6'4" | 285 lbs | DL South Forsyth | 2023 State GA – South Forsyth – Defensive Line
One of the top 2023 defensive line prospects in the state, the 6-foot-3 285-pounder has been tough to handle this season for opposing offensive linemen. He’s been double-teamed often but has still managed to make a giant impact and lead a defense that has given up 10 or less points in the last two games. He’s strong at the point of attack and can closes those running lanes in a hurry. He’s big, active, and he’s only getting better. He’s using his hands better and becoming more fundamentally and technically sound the more he plays. His best football is ahead of him, and that’s a very good thing for the South Forsyth defense who will have to line up against some impressive offenses in region play. Efobi has made 12 tackles and one sack so far this season.
Ty Watkins Ty Watkins 6'3" | 220 lbs | QB South Forsyth | 2023 State GA – South Forsyth – Quarterback
One of the top sleeper 2023 QBs in North Georgia, Watkins is off to a strong start to his junior season in his first year as a starter. He’s lead a potent offense so far, leading the War Eagles to 30+ points in every game played this season. The junior signal caller has led the way through the air with his 650 passing yards and 4 passing touchdowns. He’s done a nice job of pushing the ball down the field and getting the ball in his playmaker’s hands. He throws well on the run, throws with some zip, and is showing more and more leadership as the season moves along. A big, thick QB at 6-foot-2 215-pounds, Watkins is trying to make more plays with his feet, and did so during their big 30-7 win over Central Gwinnett. Watkins found the end-zone twice this past weekend, and that’s something we might see more and more of as the season moves along.
