Matt Toole – Northview – QB – 5’10” 170 lbs
The Sophomore QB is developing and growing up right before our eyes and Friday was indicative of that. Toole had another great performance on Friday and led them to a win. He had 203 passing yards and matched that with a pair of passing touchdowns. He also added just under 90-yards on the ground. Toole is still very young and growing but he has such a high ceiling and it looks like he could be on his way to reaching it.
Camron Townsend – Kelloggsville – WR – 5’11” 165 lbs
There hasn’t been a lot of good for the Rockets this year. They’re currently 0-4 and coming off of a tough loss against Hopkins. Camron was able to spark the offense anytime he touched the ball. He finished with 171 receiving yards for just under 30 yards a catch. He was able to hit the endzone on 2 of those receptions. Camron is dynamic and is great with the ball in his hands. Kelloggsville should use him more moving forward.
Bernie Varnesdeel – Wyoming – QB – 5’10” 180 lbs
Bernie put on a show Friday on his way to a historic finish. He put up 400 total yards. 375 of those came from the air. He threw for 5 TDs and then rushed for another 1. His best play of the day he dropped a dime to the receiver in the corner of the endzone where only he could get it. Even the opposing crowd was shocked by the throw. Wyoming fell short at home 52-49 but Varnesdeel’s performance was something spectacular.
Hunter Robinson – Forest Hills Central – QB – 6’1″ 180 lbs
After being out for injury Robinson finally got back on the field and he did not disappoint. He started slow and a bit rusty, but in the 2nd quarter, he was fully back. Once he got comfortable, he looked amazing. He finished the day with 185 passing yards, 106 rushing yards, and 2 total touchdowns. Some of the throws he made were right on the money and where only his guy could get it. He had a few throws that went a little high but it wasn’t a consistent issue.
Tyler Schut – Fennville – ATH – 6’6″ 190 lbs
It’s arguable that we saved the best performance for last because what Schut was able to do on Friday was something historic. On offense, he had just under 100 receiving yards and 2 touchdowns. On defense, he jumped up and made an interception, raced through the entire offense, and scored a touchdown. That’s offense and defense so he was done, right? Well, he decided to go for the trifecta and he delivered. He returned a punt for 43-yards and scored a touchdown there too. He did what every kid dreams of. He dominated the game in all 3 phases and to no surprise, they won 46-16.
