Lee County at Warner Robins.
The No.1 ranked team in 6A heading north to take on the No.1 ranked team in 5A.
The Warner Robins Demons are coming off a 5A state championship in 2020 and are heading in the same direction this season as they’re off to a big 4-0 start. Their offense has led the way as they’ve scored at least 48 points on each of their first four games of the season. IF they can do that against Lee County’s stout defense, Warner Robins might have an argument for the best team in the state. The 5-0 Lee County Trojans loss in their state title game last season and they’re looking to change that this year.
Here are some players to know about in this gigantic matchup in Warner Robins this weekend…
Jaron Willis Jaron Willis 6'2" | 220 lbs | LB Lee County | 2022 State GA – Linebacker- Lee County
Lee County, a state-title contender in 6A, is 5-0 so far this season and a big reason why is because of their defense, led by four-star linebacker, Jaron Willis Jaron Willis 6'2" | 220 lbs | LB Lee County | 2022 State GA . The future Georgia Tech Yellow Jacket, Willis is one of the best linebacker prospects in the state and can be physically imposing at 6-foot-2 230-pounds. He’s a tough defender, hits with authority, and moves really well for his size. He can cover in the back end, but what he does best is coming downhill and helping against the run. It will be a great matchup to watch him flying around to help stop the high-powered Warner Robins offense. He can hold his own in coverage, but he’s one of the more physically imposing defenders in the area. He plays hard and can be lined up in a number of positions on defense. His strength, experience, and versatility should help him have a big game against the Demons.
Christion Lane – Quarterback – Warner Robins
He may not be the biggest or fastest quarterback around, but the senior has had a knack for making big throws all season long. Whoever plays QB at Warner Robins seems to have an excellent season and we’re seeing that from Lane so far this fall. He throws an accurate deep ball and has this offense perfected by now. He gets the ball to his playmakers and has been very efficient with the ball so far this season. So far this season, Lane is 46/76 for 762 yards and has thrown for 10 touchdowns. He’ll need to play his absolute best if he wants to lead the Demons to a big victory over Lee County, who might have the best defense he’ll see all season.
Qae’Shon Sapp Qae’Shon Sapp 6'5" | 310 lbs | OL Lee County | 2022 State GA – OL – Lee County
One of the top offensive line prospects in all of South Georgia, the Leesburg native is a big, nasty interior lineman at 6-foot-5 320-pounds who will be heading south to Tallahassee so suit up for the Florida State Seminoles next year. The senior can maul defenders in the running game and can open up holes between the tackles. He’s incredibly strong in the lower body with powerful hands to help him play with leverage. He puts his opponent on his butt and he does it on a consistent basis. Sapp has helped lead a consistent line for the Trojans who have had no problem scoring so far this season. The Trojans have scored over 60 points in three of their five games so far this season.
Daveon Walker – Warner Robins
Arguably the top wide receiver in Middle Georgia, Walker is a 6-foot-2 180-pound possession receiver with 4.61 40-yard dash speed. Walker has some of the best hands in the state and does a nice job of turning and twisting his body in the air to make a tough grab. He can reach back and snag the ball when it’s thrown behind him and makes it look easy while he does it. He’s been a reliable weapon once again for the Demons in the passing game and is off to an excellent start to his senior season. So far, Walker has caught 17 passes for 303 yards and three touchdowns. Expect those numbers to continue climbing as the Demons appear to have one of the more stable and consistent offenses in the state. Quarterback Christion Lane will need his weapons to make play, so Walker should see lots of passes coming his way on Friday night.
